Perks for the Parents

This stunning villa with a pool in the quiet village of Selva in northern Mallorca is beautifully designed with exquisite paintings and sculptures. On a cobbled side street just off the main village square, it offers a taste of local Mallorcan life with weekly markets and summer festivals. It is laid out with bedrooms on the street level and a living and kitchen are on the first floor to maximise the sunshine; there is easy access to the wonderful outdoor area with dining terrace, covered lounge corner with BBQ, lovely garden with citrus trees and the 4x7m heated pool.

Why Kids Love it

There is plenty at the house for children, including toys, kids DVDs, a heated pool and space to play in the garden. There are 2 resident tortoises. There is a lovely white wooden crib for babies and a high chair. It is a great location for children, 100m from the main square where all children from the village gather in the afternoon to play together - it is easy to make friends. There is a tennis court, semi Olympic-sized pool and squash court within walking distance of the villa. The closest beaches are around 30 minutes’ drive away.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 days. Cleaning and towel change is included twice a week with bed linen changed weekly. Note that small children need to be accompanied outside around the steps and that there are open stairs in the house that are gated. The pool can be closed off from the house for safety. It is heated year round. Small children might need supervision in the house around breakable items. There is an additional charge for electricity (€0,26 per kWh) during the stay - typically €300 is charged on arrival with the difference refunded on check out.

About the Location

The villa is in the village of Selva in northern Mallorca, a quiet Mallorcan village, off the beaten track and full of local delights. It has a grocery store, bank, bakery, restaurants and bars plus a supermarket, swimming pool and tennis courts. Local attractions include the mountains, for hiking and cycling (100m away), the city of Inca which has shops, restaurants, supermarkets and bars, and the sandy beaches of Alcudia and Pollensa, 25 km away. Palma, the island’s capital and airport, is 33 km from Selva. Car rental is strongly recommended.

Accommodation Details

The residence has 4 bedrooms on the ground floor, plus an open living room with kitchen on the upper floor. Two bedrooms have kingsize beds, 1 has a queensize bed and the other has 2 twin beds. A baby crib is also available. The open plan living room opens to a terrace with dining area and there are steps down to a lawn, gardens with citrus trees, covered lounge with BBQ and swimming pool area. There are 3 bathrooms with a mixture of bathtubs and showers.

Style Notes

Contemporary European with a Mallorcan touch. The property has been featured in the Spanish interiors magazine 'Nuevo Estilo'. With brickwork walls, white and natural colors and stunning black and white photography on the walls, it is art-lover’s dream. Tom Ford books lie on the coffee table; the main bathroom has a gigantic Lee Jefferys painting and Herman Brood, Bettina Nuschei and Sabala paintings hang elsewhere. We love the airy spaces and the clean lines of the garden.

My partner and I bought the house in 2011. It used to be two houses and we made it into one. The refurbishment almost took us a year. We rent the villa around 6 months per year and the other months we enjoy living here. I (Wieteke) am from Holland and Juan Carlos is from Spain. We love to travel, especially to Asia. If you decide to come and stay in our house we will try to do anything we can to make your stay unforgatable with insider tips for excursions, restaurants and beaches in Mallorca.

Mallorca, Spain

Sandcastles and sunshine

One of Spain’s four sun-kissed Balearic islands, Mallorca is perfect for an easy family vacation. Popular beach resorts abound but there are hidden treasures too: golden stone hill towns, quiet beaches and olive groves, if you look hard enough. Take tots on the Palma-Soller vintage train, make sandcastles on the beach, and order kid-friendly tapas in beach bars. Pack sunscreen - you'll need it.
