Perks for the Parents

This family-friendly cabin with lake views and a hot tub is well placed for hiking Silver Lake’s many trails and enjoying a back-to-nature vacation. Set over 2 stories and with 3 bedrooms, it has spectacular views of Silver Lake, and has a wraparound deck and gas grill. Private entry to one of the bedrooms, on the ground floor, makes a stay with grandparents or a nanny easy. Mt. Baker hosts multiple hiking trails, from easy stretches to ‘experienced only’ trekking, and the Pacific Crest trail goes right through the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie Forest. Mt. Baker Ski Area is 17 miles away, with record snow falls, slopes and trails. Note there is no WiFi and very poor cell phone connection.

Why Kids Love it

This spacious house has room to play outside and in, and includes a bedroom with 2 queensize beds that would work well for kids. Nearby, there is plenty of fun to have in the woods and on the lake, where you can fish, swim and hire boats. Nearby attractions include Silver Lake Park, which has a kid-friendly bike trail, playground (pictured), museum, horseshoes and boat, canoe and paddle board rentals. To reach the park, once you turn off onto Silver Lake road, the part entrance is about 2.5 miles away. The cabin is on the back side of the lake approximately 1 more mile along. The park entrance is about 3.5 miles from the cabin.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. Note that the property is not baby-proofed - there are no stair gates and baby equipment is not provided. Children should be supervised in and around the hot tub. This house does not allow pets and is non smoking. There is free satellite and WiFi although the signal is unreliable/very poor, as is the cell phone service. The service is not flawless and there can be intermittent service failures. No refunds are provided if the satellite fails to function properly. The property sleeps a maximum of 8 people. There is a washer and dryer. Parking is available for 4 vehicles. Car rental essential: note that this rural vacation home is on an unimproved road that is not maintained by the county. While impassibility is infrequent, Winter guests are strongly advised to prepare accordingly by utilizing 4-wheel/all-wheel drive vehicles. MTB#07MF.

Style Notes

Lakeside cabin. This hideaway is all about the surroundings - Silver Lake, as seen through the trees, and the quiet forests around it. Inside the house, there is a traditional cabin feel with wood-panelled walls, a stone fireplace and a great cathedral ceiling in the living room beside a wall of windows. Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, one with a wood burner for chilly nights, and the other with a desk. We love the location for a family trip into nature, the high ceiling and wonderful views in the lounge area, and the hot tub, perfectly placed on the tree-fringed deck.
