Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 week. Safety notes: there is no fence around the pool and the rear garden is on varying levels including a sloped area and another area with a low wall. Toddlers should be supervised here. There are ungated stairs in the house. This is a family home that is rented while they are away. The garden and pool area has artificial grass which can get very hot in the midday sun – shoes are advised. Parking is inside the gates, or on the street outside. No pets or parties. Three bedrooms have their own ensuite and the 4th has a bathroom next door. All bathrooms have walk-in showers.

About the Location

The villa is in the small town of Manilva in the province of Málaga, Andalusia on the Costa del Sol. The house is a 15-minute walk to a long golden sand beach – ideal for kids who like rock pools and collecting shells. Or drive a short distance to a wide range of beautiful beaches, some wilder without facilities and some with water sports and chiringuitos (bars selling drinks and tapas). Go dolphin watching on a boat from nearby Estepona or hire a boat exclusively with or without a skipper. It’s around 1 hour from Malaga airport and around 30 minutes from Gibraltar airport.

Style Notes

Elegant ocean villa. This lovely coastal house has been designed for the sun with plenty of outdoor spaces to make the most of it. The huge U-shaped sofa under cover has panoramic views and can seat 8 to 10 guests. Interior colors are neutral with soft drapes and polished stone floors. High ceilings give an airy feel and art, mainly from the hosts’ travels around Africa, add a splash of color. We love the kitchen with everything you need to prepare delicious local food, the large swimming pool that will keep kids happy all day long, and the uninterrupted views from the primary suite where you can see both Gibraltar and the Atlas Mountains in Africa.

We are a family from the UK who have been living in Spain for 6 years. We love to travel and explore and rent out our place whilst we are away. I love to paint, write and practise yoga and our children like animals, nature and sports. Whilst at home we spend lots of time around or on the water, at the beach and playing in our pool

Marbella, Malaga

Sun, sand and sights to see

The resort town of Marbella has an outsized reputation for its yachts and parties, and is also a great place to take the kids. Zoos, aquaparks and child-friendly attractions abound, and the town’s beaches are backed with bustling beach bars serving fresh fish. Stroll the Paseo Marítimo and soak up the atmosphere under palm trees beside the sea; seek out the old town for ancient architecture and a maze of cobbled streets, and don’t miss the Parque de La Constitución, a playground, café and astronomic observatory in the heart of the city.
