Perks for the Parents

This luxurious family home with panoramic views, a vast deck with a hot tub, and a cinema room, offers a relaxing stay in California for all the family. Special treats include 2 living areas for relaxing while the kids play, beautiful lighting on the deck for a glass of champagne in the spa pool once the kids have gone to bed and a Sonos music system and nest zircon/ heating system. The cinema room has a full wall projector and Xfinity on demand TV. Make life easy during your stay with fantastic food delivery services in the area that bring perfectly proportioned ingredients with recipes for 2 or more adults to whip up ($20 for 2 people per meal) for zero shopping or waste.

Why Kids Love it

Children of all ages will love the cinema room with full wall projector as well as the spa pool. Toys, a high chair and a baby chair that attaches to the table are provided along with a large Pottery Barn crib and an array of options for smaller babies (Baby Bjorn bassinet, Rock’n’Play, co-sleeper) to make the home ideal for a toddler and infant or multiple infants. The home has a padded outdoor play area for kids. All bedrooms can be set up with cribs for young children, or otherwise have kingsize/full beds. The county is super family-orientated, with restaurants and cafés that welcome kids along with numerous nearby libraries with story times and plenty of parks and playgrounds nearby.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 night. The main entrance to the house and living area is on the top floor and there is a stair gate at the top. There is no stair gate at the bottom of the stairs. The deck is safe for children but young children who might climb should be closely watched. Children should only use the spa/hot tub under close supervision. The property has a double garage and driveway with plenty of additional parking as needed.

About the Location

The residence is in Marin County, 20 minutes’ drive from San Rafael and 30 minutes from San Francisco. The area is rugged and rural, with Ignacio Valley Preserve and the Hamilton Wetlands Preserve close by. Views from the property are of wooded hillsides and countryside. The property is not in a metropolis but it is a short drive from shops and restaurants with food delivery options available. Oakland and San Francisco airports are just over an hour's drive away.

Accommodation Details

This 4 bedroom property enjoys panoramic views and open plan living. There are 2 master bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, and 2 double bedrooms, which can be set up with air beds or cribs. There is a large chef's kitchen with Nespresso machine, a lounge-diner and a family bathroom with bath and shower. The front deck has a spa pool set up at a kid-friendly temperature and large day bed for the whole family to relax. There is a padded outdoor play area for kids and a garden.

Style Notes

Stunning design. This bright, light and spacious property has beautiful views from every room and is furnished with Restoration Hardware pieces in the main living room and dining room and children's Pottery Barn furniture elsewhere. Pieces from the UK combine to make the home both modern and sophisticated. We love the expansive deck, with views, play spaces and relaxation zone, the stunning lounge-diner and the fun kids play spaces.

We are from England (Sarah) and New Zealand (Ed) and, together with our toddler Sienna and baby Seb, we love to travel the world. We have travelled both for pleasure and business and our current top destinations are combined with seeing our family. Most recent trips have included Spain, England and New Zealand and a trip this year to Italy. Yes, traveling with young kids is of course more challenging :-) but with the right place to stay and kid friendly amenities it is absolutely worth it and a fantastic experience that we want our kids to enjoy with us. We believe K&C can help with that! Sienna enjoys pretty much any new experience, especially where she has lots of new people to meet and things to do and lucky for us loves eating out! I am sure our next trip with both a toddler and a baby will have its challenges but we know it will be fun.

Marin County, California

Beyond the Golden Gate

Just across the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin County is home to tech industry millionaires along with nature lovers drawn to the region’s stunningly beautiful coastal wilderness. Close to San Francisco attractions and yet a destination unto itself, Marin County has a laid-back, post 60’s vibe and is a perfect home base for outdoor enthusiasts to explore the Bay Area. Take the kids to picturesque Sausalito to explore the Bay Area Discovery Museum, an interactive children’s museum with a focus on local ecology, and meet the wild seals and sea lions rescued by the Marine Mammal Center.
