Perks for the Parents

This luxury tent within a small camp for families in a beautiful, lesser-visited part of the French countryside, sleeps up to 2 adults and 3 children. Parents can relax while kids play, make friends and run around and have adventures in the open air. The hosts take the hassle out of camping and throw in as much luxury as they can. WiFi is available in the communal areas.

Why Kids Love it

This camp is a great spot for an adventure. Older kids can build a woodland den, play on the trampoline, learn to play petanque or play on the tree swing; younger kids can dig in the sand box, or try out the toys and games provided. There are pets to play with (at the time of writing 2 guinea pigs and puppy) and plans for chickens and veg patch in 2018. The natural swimming pond has a pebble beach and shallow end perfect for little ones who can splash around with the frogs and learn about nature. And as a family-oriented spot, plenty of new friends to make too. Babies get proper cribs; kids get sprung mattresses on full size camp beds, plus duvets and pillows.

Things to Know

Open from Easter until the end of October each year, plus Christmas and New Year for winter glamping. Minimum stays vary between 2, 4 and 7 nights depending on season. Rates are seasonal – see calendar for details. Please ask the hosts if you have any special requirements as they may be able to help. The swimming pond is fully fenced and has a wristband operated alarm system but no lifeguard. Note there are no baths, only shared showers.

About the Location

A little off the beaten track, 1 hour northeast of Toulouse, near pretty hilltop villages and running streams. Car hire is essential, with parking onsite, but no cars permitted in the camp grounds. The closest airport is in Toulouse. Easy local activities and attractions include wildlife watching, canoeing, mountain biking and horseback riding.

Accommodation Details

This spacious safari-style tent has 2 bedrooms, 1 large, and 1 small, plus a separate room with a composting toilet and a wardrobe/dressing area. There is also a large shaded wooden veranda. There is a fully equipped open air summer kitchen with a fridge, dishwashers and all utensils, pots and pans etc provided. The camp has a fire pit and a 20m natural swimming pond, plus a snug tented lounge room. It can sleep up to 2 adults and 3 children.

Style Notes

It’s camping, but not as you know it. This safari tent has a full, rustic, handmade wooden 6-foot bed, solar lighting and sensational views over the green valley below from its raised wooden deck. Hand carved wooden chairs sit on the deck. The owners previously ran a luxury safari camp in Africa, influences of which can be seen in the décor. The safari tents are each named after national reserves or parks in Kenya (Samburu, Maasai Mara, Tsavo East). You can have a bath under the sun or stars in the indoor/outdoor bath house.

As a team we are committed to providing the very best for our guests. Nigel ran a luxury tented safari camp in Kenya for 11 years and knows exactly what it takes to create first class holiday experiences. Combined with Claire’s horticultural know-how, and Seiya’s flair for interior design, we are constantly working on new ways to make your stay even more special.

Midi-Pyrénées, France

Far from the crowds

This central slab of southwestern France includes the middle section of the Pyrenees at the French-Spanish border, and the city of Toulouse. It’s fair to say that it isn’t the best known part of France, but it’s all the better for it. Visit ski stations in the mountains, watch eagles soaring over canyons, then relax with a convivial lunch in the square of a market town. Kids will love the area’s water parks, petting farms and cable cars, while parents have great wine, showstopping views and Michelin starred food to indulge in.
