Perks for the Parents

A relaxed vacation home just a short walk from Mill Valley, with a private pool, luxurious primary suite and dedicated playroom. It sleeps 9. It’s well-set up for a family stay, with a fully-equipped kitchen and a family-sized dining area for easy meals, as well as a wet bar and outdoor dinnerware for al fresco dining. Spend your days in the newly-landscaped backyard, with a cozy sitting area, outdoor dining area and fire pit (soon be installed!) while kids play on the grass or splash around in the pool.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has plenty of toys and books for children (mainly boys) under 10 and is a great family space. There’s an easy flow from indoors to outdoors, so kids can run around freely while parents can keep an eye on little ones from different areas. The pool is perfect for all-day splashing and it’s just a short walk from local playgrounds and sports courts. For days at the beach, head to Stinson beach (30 minutes’ drive) for miles of sandy shores and watersports or spend the day in the city spotting sea lions at Pier 39 (half an hour away).

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 10 days. Safety notes: the pool has a locked cover. Bikes are available for guests to use during their stay. There’s a gas fireplace in the living room, and TVs in the living room, primary bedroom, guest room and playroom. You’ll find an outdoor grill by the pool and a dishwasher and outdoor plates downstairs for easy al fresco dining and clean up.

About the Location

The house is located in Sycamore Park, California, a great neighborhood for families just 15 minutes’ walk from downtown Mill Valley. It’s close to many parks, playgrounds and beaches, and just 20 minutes’ drive to San Francisco. It’s also easy to access the city via buses and ferries in the town. It’s 10 minutes’ drive to the hiking trails of Muir Woods and Redwood Canyon or try a water-side cycle down to picturesque Sausalito (20 minutes’ by bike). San Francisco airport is 45 minutes’ drive.

The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. Upstairs, there’s a primary bedroom (with a kingsize bed) and ensuite bathroom with a soaking tub. This floor also has the kids bedroom (with bunk beds and a single trundle bed) and a family bathroom with a bathtub and shower. The kitchen, living and dining room are also upstairs, as well as a home office with fantastic views. Style Notes

Bright and light. This modern and sophisticated home has a sleek kitchen upstairs which is great for cooking with beautiful views of Mt. Tam over the sink. The walls are white and fresh, punctuated with pops of color and vibrant modern artwork on the walls, while the bathrooms are contemporary and clean. We love the marble fireplace in the living room, the beautiful skylight above the dining table and the natural wooden floors throughout.

Mill Valley, Marin County

At the base of Mount Tam

Voted as one of the top 10 small towns in America to live in, Mill Valley, four miles north of San Francisco, has everything to offer a family, from superb kid-friendly beaches within a five-minute drive to hikes around Mount Tamalpais, family-friendly restaurants and cafés, and a lovely downtown with parks, playgrounds and interesting independent stores. Don’t miss migrating the Californian grey whales just off the coast from December to May each year.
