Just a 25-minute drive from San Francisco, this light, bright and artfully designed residence comes with its own gym and a spacious sun deck for soaking up the beautiful views of Mount Tamalpais. It sleeps 6 + 1. There’s plenty of space for all the family, with roomy open plan areas for gathering together in, and peaceful hideaway nooks for enjoying a quiet moment. The primary bedroom provides parents with a sanctuary of their own, including an ensuite bathroom with a soaking tub, a large walk-in closet and beautiful mountain views. Meal times are a joy with several dining areas on offer including an indoor banquet style table, shaded alfresco dining and a cute banquette in the kitchen for laid back breakfasts. Glass patio doors can be flung open for seamless inside/outside living, with a spacious sun deck and a BBQ for summer grill ups. The residence is located in a trendy neighborhood with cafes, restaurants and grocery stores a short walk away. The hosts provide surfboards and electric bikes for those wishing to explore the beautiful beaches and trails of wider Marin County.

Why Kids Love it

With something to appeal to kids of every age, this bright and playful residence is an ideal base for exploring the city, beaches and countryside of beautiful Marin County. The kids’ rooms pop with color and fun, and the hosts provide a variety of toys, books, and board games. There’s plenty of space for hanging out downstairs with a TV in the living room for screening movies, and window seat nooks for curling up with a book or tablet. Outside, there’s a trampoline, a basketball hoop, a badminton set and soccer balls, as well as tennis racquets. There are some excellent local bike trails, and the hosts provide bikes to suit all ages including a ride along, a smaller pedal bike, and a larger pedal bike as well as helmets. For older kids and teens keen to try the local surf, the hosts provide boards to borrow. There are 2 playgrounds, a skate park and a leisure pool within a 10-minute walk, and plenty of hiking and biking trails for outdoorsy families. The hosts can provide a highchair and a pack-and-play on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 30 nights. The hosts can provide and airbed an a crib to sleep additional guests; please let them know at the time of booking if these are required. A housekeeper is available for periodic cleaning on request, subject to an extra charge of $175 per clean. There is WiFi and air conditioning throughout the residence, as well as a washer/dryer for convenience. The hosts provide bikes (electric and pedal options), and surfboards for guests to borrow during their stay. There is off street parking for 1 car, and additional parking on the street which is free and easy to come by. Pets are welcome by prior arrangement.

About the Location

The residence is located on a quiet residential street in Sycamore Park, a sought-after, family friendly neighborhood in Mill Valley, just 4 miles north of San Francisco. Mill Valley’s charming downtown is a short walk away offering up a mix of family-friendly restaurants, coffee shops and clothing/home shops, as well as 2 playgrounds, a leisure center with a pool, and a skate park. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails locally, and the Mount Tamalpais state park is a short drive away with family-friendly trails starting from Muir Woods. Pretty Sausalito and the East coast beaches are an 8-minute drive away, with highway 101 leading on to the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco in around 15 minutes. The closest airport is San Francisco International, an hour’s drive away.

Accommodation Details

The residence has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms set over 2 floors. The main entrance is up a few steps, leading in to a foyer with a cloakroom, and on to a large open plan style living/dining room with sofas, chairs, a window seat and a large table seating 6. Through an open archway is a concept kitchen kitted out with high-end appliances, an island with an inbuilt oven and hob, and a breakfast table with banquette seating by the window. There is a family area over on the other side with sofas, a fireplace and a TV, and glass sliding doors leading on to the deck outside. Additionally on this floor there is a "kids’ wing" with 2 bedrooms containing a single bed in each, and a recently renovated full bath with bathtub and radiant heat flooring. There is also a cloakroom and a laundry room with a washer and dryer. Upstairs, guests will find the primary bedroom offering views of Mt. Tamalpais alongside a California kingsize bed, a walk-in wardrobe, and a large bathroom with double sinks, a spacious shower, and a separate, deep soaking bathtub. The fourth bedroom has a queensize bed. Outside space includes a deck with a BBQ and alfresco dining table, a lawn with a garden office/gym with Peloton bike, and a patio/games area with a basketball hoop.

Contemporary Californian. Offering up cool, crisp interiors with whitewashed walls and wooden floors, this stylish, modern residence offers the perfect laid back vacation base. Windows and doors flood in plenty of natural light, keeping the vibe airy and bright. The hosts are keen collectors of modern art which adds pops of color and character throughout. The kids’ rooms are playfully designed with feature paint splashes and decorations while the adult bedrooms are havens of calm with earthy tones, mountain views and a luxurious marble clad bathroom in the primary. We love the sunny kitchen with its pretty blue cabinetry and banquette breakfast snug, as well as the in-built window seating which is perfectly placed for curling up with a book or a cup of coffee while watching the world go by.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
