As well as a dedicated parents’ room and kids bedroom, you’ll also find a third bedroom which is currently set up as a home office with a designer desk - ideal for working from home if you need to. This room could be converted into a nursery for families with little ones. Parents and kids alike will love the backyard, which is ideal for indoor/outdoor living with 2 lounge areas, a dining area, grill and built-in fire pit for cozy nights under the stars.
Why Kids Love it
The hosts have 2 young children and purchased this home with them in mind, so it’s ideal for kids under 10. The second bedroom has 2 twin beds, a dresser for clothing storage and a large bookcase with a variety of children's books and games. The living room also has several cabinets with additional toys and games for kids. The backyard has a large grassy area where children can run around, with a play structure and/or bounce house available upon request. Kids can also play in the creek behind the backyard for a dose of nature close at hand. For babies and toddlers, the hosts have a crib, changing table and high chair available upon request.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 30 nights. Safety notes: the home is all on one level and safe for young children. Parking is available for 3 cars (2 in the driveway and 1 dedicated spot in front of the house) - car rental is recommended but not essential. There is a bike hire shop less than 10 minutes’ walk away. San Francisco is a picturesque 15-minute drive over the Golden Gate Bridge. Both Oakland and San Francisco airports are around 45 minutes’ drive.
About the Location
The property is located in Mill Valley, California. Situated in Sycamore Park, this is one of the most sought-after, family friendly neighborhoods in the area. It’s within walking distance of charming downtown Mill Valley which has numerous restaurants, coffee shops and clothing/home shops, as well as hiking and running trails (all within a 15-minute walk). There is a park, recreation center and skate park within a 10-minute walk. Stinson Beach and Muir Beach (on the west coast) are a short drive away, while pretty Sausalito is a 20-minute bike ride (or a 10-minute drive).
Accommodation Details
This home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, all set across 1 floor. The large primary bedroom includes a kingsize bed and ensuite full bathroom, perfect for parents to relax and unwind. A second (children’s) bedroom has 2 twin beds, plus many books and toys. The third room can be used as a guest room (with queensize bed), a study or a nursery (a crib is available on request). The recently-remodeled chef's kitchen boasts high-end appliances (Thermador range, double ovens, refrigerator, wine fridge, dishwasher and microwave).
Style Notes
Contemporary casual. This home has been recently remodeled with high end finishes throughout. The chef's kitchen boasts slick new appliances, while the massive kitchen island is covered in luxurious Calacatta gold marble. Both bathrooms were also recently remodeled with Waterworks fixtures and Restoration Hardware vanities. We love the multi-aspect windows in the living area allowing lots of natural light to flood in throughout the property, as well as the contemporary wooden countertop bar stools and the sunny outdoor deck.
