This stunning lake house right on the water at Ashley Lake, Montana comes with a dedicated bunk loft room for kids and unbeatable views of the water. It sleeps 12 + 1. The hosts use this home as their own family retreat, so it’s completely set up for cooking and entertaining, with a fully-equipped kitchen, outdoor grill, huge refrigerator/freezer and lots of space for accommodating family members. Take advantage of those spectacular natural views - at certain times of the day, the lake glimmers with an emerald hue because of light reflecting off the unique pale sediment from the incoming creek. Enjoy morning coffee on the main terrace directly from the primary bedroom, or take a hot chocolate up to the loft level balcony for a warm treat amongst the trees.

Why Kids Love it

This is a great escape, especially for older kids and teens! The sleep-in loft can accommodate up to 8 children, so it’s perfect for siblings, cousins or friends to share. They’ll also have their own lounge space in the loft, if they want to get away from parents for the evening! In the family room on the main level, you’ll find books, board games and toys for the whole family. The home is ideal for adventurous, sporty kids: they can jump off the deck and swim in the lake in summer season, or try kayaking on the calm waters. Further afield, it’s 1 hour from the thrilling Big Sky Waterpark and amusement park or 1.5 hours from Whitefish Mountain Resort for winter sports, skiing and aerial adventure parks.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: XX nights. Safety notes: the house is on 20 private acres and sits right above Ashley Lake, set back from the water. A short drive down the private road leads to the property’s lakefront access and dock that is exclusive to guests. The main entrance to the house is on the second level and accessed via the wraparound deck and staircase in front of the house. Dogs may be welcome on request and are welcome on the lake if kept on a lead. There’s car parking for XX cars - car rental is essential in this area.

About the Location

Ashley Lake is a quiet community tucked away inside the Flathead National Forest in Montana, USA. The lake itself is 2,850 acres, with a maximum depth of 225ft: visitors enjoy recreational boating, water skiing, quiet canoeing and fishing (the lake has kokanee salmon, cutthroat, yellow perch and rainbow-cutthroat hybrid). There’s also a swimming area, boat ramp, picnic tables, fire rings and restrooms provided around the lake, as well as 3 campsites. It's a 40-minute drive from Glacier International Airport (35 miles), 1 hour from Big Fork and Flathead Lake (40 miles) and 1 hour 15 minutes from West Glacier and the Southwest entrance to Glacier National Park (60 miles).

Accommodation Details

The house has 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, totalling 3600 total sqft across 3 floors. Main level: the primary suite, featuring a kingsize bed, ensuite bathroom with jacuzzi tub and shower, large closet and sliding doors to the main patio with beautiful views. This floor also has the open plan living space and dining room (seating up to 10) and kitchen (with an additional 4 bar stools at the island), as well as a separate living room. Lower level: a second bedroom with a kingsize bed, large walk-in closet, private patio with lake views and a full bathroom opposite. Loft level: the third bedroom with 4 double beds (2 sets of bunk beds, sleeping 8 in total) and a creative lounge space for kids or teens to relax, as well as a bathroom with a walk-in shower.

Style Notes

Rustic meets modern. The hosts have decorated the home with a neutral color palette and warm natural textures to create a calming and inviting place to relax. Adding modernity, you’ll find sleek mid-century influences, clean lines and contemporary artwork, juxtaposed with traditional cabin references - the log beam construction mirrors the ponderosa pines of the surrounding national forest, while various wooden materials can be found around the home on walls, ceilings and frames. We love the cozy stone fireplace, those huge floor-to-ceiling windows in the living area and the sumptuous leather couches.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
