This large family home has been designed with wellbeing, comfort and relaxation in mind. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces for parents to sit back and relax, meditate or work out, and the location is peaceful and private, yet just minutes from the beach. This is the perfect vacation spot to recharge - try the surf down at South Edison beach, take a hike along the sand dunes, or simply lay by the stunning swimming pool and discover the backyard’s secret chill out spot; a cozy hanging chair under a giant shady maple tree.

Why Kids Love it

This family home is a dream for kids, with its expansive backyard, heated pool with a large shallow area, and long driveway to play in. The large decks upstairs provide lots of space for wheeled toys and the downstairs media room includes a non-toxic wood climbing pikler (foldable) as well as other children’s toys, books, game consoles and a DVD library. Hosts also provide access to a water table for toddlers, kids toys for the pool, baby beach tent, lawn games for older kids, radio flyer trike, Bugaboo Chameleon stroller for walks, baby bath, baby monitor, changing table, high chair, and stair gates. Kids of all ages will love hanging out in Montauk, with its skatepark, miles of sandy beaches, surf schools, and mini golf center.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 30 nights in July and August, 7 nights in off season. The house is very baby and toddler friendly: not only have hosts provided discreet baby-proofing (including pool gates, stair gates and window guards), they have also selected their furnishings and amenities with kids in mind, choosing either soft or rounded shapes and placing extra attention on natural non-toxic materials and finishes. This contemporary home features a whole host of modern home comforts, including: whole-house water and air filtration, Sonos music system, Harmony universal remotes, Nest central air conditioning, Adorne WiFi lighting, pool heat/light/pump remote control, remote controlled window shades in most rooms, Wii & PS3 games console, 90" TV in the media room, 1G internet, central vac, sink disposal, dishwasher, washer/dryer, and instant hot water tap. Parking is available on the driveway - car hire is recommended.

About the Location

The residence is located in Montauk, New York. It’s set at the end of a very private drive, in a quiet, safe and upscale neighborhood. Situated at the highest point in Montauk, it offers stunning views of the ocean, lake and tree canopy. It’s just 5 minutes’ drive from the center of Montauk, which offers a choice of family friendly eateries, a golf course, train station, and of course, the beach. JFK and LaGuardia airports are just over 2 hours away, and the Jitney stop for bus routes into the city is just 5 minutes from the house. Visit the very end of Long Island - Montauk Lighthouse - for spectacular ocean views, hike across Montauk’s beautiful state parks, or take the kids to Rita’s Stables for horse-riding and a petting zoo (all within 10 minutes’ drive).

Accommodation Details

This residence has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, set over 2 floors with the main entrance on the upper level. The stylish kitchen is upstairs and opens to the dining room and main upper living room, featuring Viking Pro appliances, a 14 foot quartz counter with bar seating, and artisan-made walnut shelving. On the lower floor there is a second living area/media room (that can be set up as a bedroom), an office, laundry room, and a quirky cabana room with a bar and open kitchen/dining/living area. Three bedrooms are on the upper floor, each with a queensize bed, and there are 2 bathrooms on this floor. There is an additional double sofa bed, crib and a travel crib available. This home features 2000 square feet of upper decks with cable railing for spectacular views, as well as numerous outdoor sitting or dining areas. 2 bedrooms have access to outdoor decks. The backyard features a huge heated saltwater pool, bluestone patio, private mature lush landscaping, outdoor marble dining table, BBQ area, large grassy yard, sun loungers and a massive sofa, a multi-person outdoor shower, fitness area, and surfboard storage area.

Style Notes

Modern beach house. Recently renovated, this home is minimalist but warm, blending beachy themes (think wooden decks, white dining chairs and wall-mounted surf boards) and mid-century design, using high-end non-toxic materials throughout. The layout is all focused on light and views to accentuate the stunning surrounding landscape, with lots of sliding doors, wide windows and skylights. We love the beach-inspired styling in the cabana room, the luxurious outdoor wood-paneled shower, and the pared-back neutral tones in the sophisticated kitchen.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
