This spacious house is perfect for play - there are toys, books and games on all floors of the house. This is a safe neighborhood with lots of families and it’s just 10 minutes’ walk to Brookdale Park (designed by the same architect who designed Central Park in New York) with playgrounds, tennis courts, big lawns, concerts and archery. Budding nature lovers will enjoy a visit to the Alonzo F. Bonsal Wildlife Preserve (5 minutes away) or the Turtle Back Zoo (25 minutes’ drive) for wild animal exhibits, petting zoo, carousel and mini-train. During the summer, there are 3 large public pools nearby and the amazing Cold Stone Creamery ice cream shop, just 5 blocks away.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 nights. This residence is set over 4 levels with 2 entrances and there are no stair gates - there are also split level steps within the property and steps up to the front door. There is driveway parking - car hire is recommended to explore the area. A housekeeper is available for cleanings and a baby sitter is available, both for an additional fee. The house comes with air conditioning, TV with Netflix (no cable), outdoor grill, dishwasher, games console, washer/dryer and WiFi. Hosts can also provide 1 double air bed. There are 2 adult bikes, and 2 midsize bikes for a 10 and an 8 year olds, 2 2-wheel scooters, sleds and skis, and small and large skateboards along with helmets for all sizes.

About the Location

This residence is located in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. It’s 45 minutes’ drive to Newark Airport, or 1 hour to LaGuardia. It’s 15 minutes’ walk to Upper Montclair train station for frequent trains to New York City. Downtown Upper Montclair is safe and family friendly, with a choice of eateries, shops and food markets. As well as lots of local green parks within walking distance, there are some great nearby spots for hiking and biking: Paterson Falls National Park (15 minutes’ drive), South Mountain Reservation (30 minutes’ drive), Eagle Rock Reservation (15 minutes’ drive) and Mills Reservation Country Park (5 minutes’ drive).

This residence has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, set over 4 floors. The master bedroom is on the first floor, with 1 kingsize bed, a walk-in closet and a bathroom with a soaking bathtub. On the second floor there are 2 children’s bedrooms (each with 1 single bed) and a bathroom with bathtub. On the third floor there is another bedroom with 1 queensize bed. On the ground floor there is a half bathroom, kitchen (with breakfast bar seating 3), dining room (with table seating 8), living room and study. There’s also a basement designed for kids with toys, crafts and a Foosball table. Outside there is a backyard with patio, outdoor dining table seating 6 and small basketball court.

Style Notes

Classic country house. This 100-year old house has had a contemporary interior update, blending old and new styles with a clever choice of timeless furniture. The residence is decorated using lots of white with an accent color wall in each room. It features natural materials, such as the weathered oak floors, shaker style kitchen and wooden paneling outside the house, contrasted with bright pops of color and fun kids bedrooms. We love the painted brick fireplace in the living room, the orange metal bar stools in the kitchen and the unique high windows in the dining room.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
