Nestled in Les Alpilles and surrounded by rocky mountains, sunflower fields and lush vineyards, this 18th-century French farmhouse has large living spaces, idyllic gardens and a heated pool. It sleeps 14 + 1. Enjoy the beautiful 3,800 sqm landscaped grounds and large pool with unobstructed views of the hills. Have breakfast al fresco in the traditional pebbled courtyard in the front of the house, and dinner poolside under the pergola while watching the sun set on the vineyards behind the house. Sip wine from next door’s organic vineyard, while you prepare meals with all your market finds in the beautiful kitchen.

Why Kids Love it

The pool is a big draw, of course, and so is the large and shady garden here. The neighbouring towns are child friendly and St Remy has an adorable carousel for little ones. Bike rental is a great way to gently discover the area. The house is ideal for multiple families or large groups who want the peace, quiet, and beauty of the countryside but also the close proximity to Provencal towns and their weekly markets. The house is surrounded by the Alpilles Natural Regional Park with hiking and bike trails. The single bedroom with an ensuite shower room is perfect for a nanny.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. The main villa has 5 bedrooms and the remaining 2 bedrooms are in a separate wing of the property. The pool has a pool alarm but children will need supervision around it. There are 2 interior stair cases without stair gates, however doors can be closed to limit access to them. There are window hooks and door hooks to prevent doors and windows slamming. A high chair, crib, bath seat, toys, and children's plates and cups are available on request and there are very few breakables for toddlers. There is air conditioning only in the kitchen and in 1 bedroom. No pets or smoking.

About the Location

The farmhouse is in the hamlet of Le Destet, just under 5km north of Mouriès, Provence. Mouriès is in the countryside 7 minutes from Eygalieres and Maussane-Les-Alpilles and 45 minutes from Avignon with its galleries, boutiques, cafés and regular festivals. The farmhouse is conveniently close to the towns of Eygalières, Maussane-Les-Alpilles, and St-Remy-de-Provence, approximately 20 minutes away by car. The nearest international airport is Marseille Provence, a 45-minute drive away. Car hire is essential to make the most of the area.

Accommodation Details

This villa has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms set in a main villa and separate wing. Downstairs, the villa has generous living spaces with a 60 sqm living room and a 40 sqm dining room, plus a powder room. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large range, oven, and American refrigerator. Upstairs there are 2 kingsize bedrooms (both with ensuite bathroom), 1 queensize bedroom and 2 twin bedrooms that share a family bathroom. On the ground floor there is a bedroom with a single bed, and an ensuite bathroom. Upstairs in a separate wing of the house, there is a bedroom with a queensize bed plus single day bed, and an ensuite bathroom. Outside, there is a table seating up to 6 for morning coffee, a pergola with comfortable outdoor lounge seating, a dining table seating up to 10 next to a swimming pool with padded sun loungers, and a barbecue.

Style Notes

French country style. There’s a reason that artists such as Van Gogh were so inspired by the Provence – the light bounces off the limestone buildings and lends a softness to everything. The calming grays and whites of this traditional farmhouse give a tranquil air. The newly-renovated kitchen and modern bathrooms mix with antique fireplaces and arched stone walls. We love the traditional terracotta floor tiles that are cool under foot, the high-spec kitchen for creating an informal banquet and the pergola next to the pool – perfect for social evenings under the stars.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

This pretty village in the heart of the Alpilles National Park, Provence, is in the country’s premier olive oil producing region and has beautiful trails through vineyards and olive groves to explore. Twenty minutes from Saint Remy and 15 minutes from Les Baux de Provence, it’s nestled in a golden part of Provence with horseback riding, great food and villages made of honey-colored stone to enjoy nearby.
