Perks for the Parents

This gorgeous designer home is a short walk from Amsterdam’s famous museums and has a garden, open kitchen-living space and plenty to amuse kids. The light living space is full of interesting contemporary art and eye-catching modern furniture, while bedrooms are laid out with 1 for parents, 1 for kids and an additional single bedroom ideal for a nanny, au pair or older child. You can easily walk to the famous museums as they are all located just around the corner; the Vondelpark, PC Hooftstraat, Albert Cuypmarkt and the Heineken Experience are all within a 10-minute walk.

Why Kids Love it

Home to a 6-year-old girl, this house has plenty of toys to play with, plus a Nintendo Wii with lots of games; a crib, high chair, baby toys and a baby bath can be provided on request. Don’t write off the museums as too sophisticated for young children - they offer a great range of kids activities that you can sign up to via the museum websites. The garden has a swing for the kids. The main kids bedroom has a double bed and the third bedroom can be set up with a bed or crib as needed.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 nights. The property can be available for 2 weeks over Christmas 2017. As the apartment is based on the ground level, it is easy to access. There is parking nearby (indoor and outdoor) but you will need daily parking tickets. Car rental may not necessary - there is a tram stop around the corner from the apartment. No smoking, no pets. Note that there is no TV; please ask the hosts if you need one as they may be able to arrange one. Bikes can be parked outside easily. The house sleeps 4 and an air bed for 1-2 extra guests can be provided.

About the Location

The residence is right around the corner from the Museum District, with the Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum and the Stedelijk as Amsterdam's most famous highlights very close by (under 5 minutes’ walk). It is a lovely family-friendly neighborhood, known as De Oude Pijp. You can easily visit other highlights (Vondelpark, PC Hooftstraat, Albert Cuypmarkt, Heineken Experience) as they are all within a 10-minute walk away. Amsterdam Schiphol airport is a 20 minute drive away, or 40 minutes by public transport.

Accommodation Details

This ground floor apartment with a garden offers 1 large bedroom with a kingsize bed, 1 large kids room with a double bed and 1 small bedroom with an extra bed or a baby bed (if requested). There is also a living room with an open and fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom has a shower only, with a baby bath on request. The decked garden includes a swing.

Style Notes

Modern Scandinavian. This beautiful house was renovated in April 2017 and is a mixture of contemporary and historic, dating to 1905. There is a lot of blond wood, mixed it with a modern epoxy floor with floor heating, plus white walls, concrete planters and white walls for a fresh look. We love the colorful furniture, the light dining area and the super cute kids room.

Our family had the most wonderful stay in this home—it was perfectly located just steps from the most lovely cafes and restaurants, a stone's throw from all the fabulous museums, and easy walking distance to everything else that Amsterdam has to offer. The house was spotless, super cozy, and perfectly appointed with everything we needed. Karina was a very warm, communicative host as well, and we definitely plan on staying here again next time we visit! Thank you for the most unforgettable trip and for a safe, beautiful place to call home while traveling!

This wonderful apartment in de Pijp was a fantastic base for a short break in Amsterdam. You couldn’t ask for a better location if you plan on visiting some of the city’s wonderful museums and there are so many wonderful cafes and restaurants literally in the same block. Karina was a wonderful host and the apartment is lovely, clean and relaxing - a great sanctuary for the family after a busy day sight seeing. Thanks again for the wonderful stay!

We had a great stay at the Museumkwartier. Maarten was a super host. Meeting us at his home when we arrived. Lots of local recommendations. His home was beautiful and spotless, in a superb local neighbourhood. We would definitely stay again.

Museumkwartier, Amsterdam

The city’s cultural heartland

In the south of central Amsterdam, the Museum Quarter is the city’s cultural hothouse, including the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum and the Van Gogh Museum among its treasures. It’s super well connected by tram to the city at large and is close to the Vondelpark for tots who prefer play to paintings.
