Modern, state-of-the-art design. Furniture includes items from Interlubke, Montana from Denmark, COR and Lifetime; amenities by Alessi and SMEG make the kitchen bright, functional and up to the minute. Artwork reflects the owners’ love of color with items from Billio Nic, Herman Brood, Floor de Bruyn Kops and others. While the building dates to 1904, the interior is super modern, clean and uncluttered and designed to make the most of the spaces. We love the enormous family bathroom with its silver tiles, the pale wood floors and white walls throughout, and the adventure-themed kids bedroom with high sleeper and bright orange details.

Hello travel lovers, We arrived in Amsterdam in 1992 ( Michiel) and 1994 (Marlous) for doing our study and since then we didn’t leave this amazing city (except all the travels and work experiences abroad) so we discovered the city at early age ( with experiencing all the good and bad things), started our career over here and now we have our family life in this lovely neighborhood which feels like a modern upgraded ghetto in the middle of the energetic city of Amsterdam. We enjoy our family life with the kids who goes to school and which has there friends nearby and playgrounds around (our garden, “Vondelpark”, “Museumplein”) and within a second we leave the house for a movie (at Cinecenter Cinema near "Leidseplein" is our favorite) or a theatre (Stadsschouwburg at "Leidseplein" which also has lots of International Plays) or having drinks with friends in one of the bars or restaurant nearby (the “Pijp” or the Jordaan”). All within a short distance or a 10 or 20 minute walk. We love to work as an Artist Manager and an Attorney at Law specialiced in IP matters and doing sports like racecycling, jogging, yoga and play tennis. We do love art and painting. We loved to travel around the world and now with our kids we downsized the distance to overcome and explore Europe with his nice countries like Italia (our favorite till so far is the lovely place Lucca) and Austria (for skieing and staying in a nice family hotel like Grand Hotel Zell am See), Turkey (with the charming place of Alacati) and our favorite cities like Paris ( we love to eat a croissant with our kids in Parque Luxembourg) and Tarifa (for hanging around in this kite-surfing place paradise). We also enjoy simply going to the nearby beaches of Bloemendaal (Beachclub Republiek), Zandvoort ( Family Beach Vooges) or Noordwijk (Beachclub Zuiderbad) and we love to overstay a weekend in our familyhouse in Zeeland. We enjoying life with our friends and being with our lovely kids. We are also interested in Houseswap with another family for a nice place which is child friendly, has 5 beds available, situated nearby sea and beach or nice cities in Europa, a lovely apartment in New York or anything special and authentique.

Museumkwartier, Amsterdam

The city’s cultural heartland

In the south of central Amsterdam, the Museum Quarter is the city’s cultural hothouse, including the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum and the Van Gogh Museum among its treasures. It’s super well connected by tram to the city at large and is close to the Vondelpark for tots who prefer play to paintings.

This house stands, in my opinion, in the nicest location in Amsterdam. It is a residential street, a world apart from the crowds in the center, and yet a 5 minute walk from the museums and a 15 minute walk from ... the crowds in the center. A real house **is** the family that owns it, and this is what you find here. This is not a rental unit indiscernible from a hotel room, but a genuine house with kids laughter and all. Pretty pretty nice. Thanks!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Palestrinastraat home. Marlous was a lovely host, and there was lots of helpful information about both the house and various local restaurants/shops/etc. The house is beautiful and was fabulous for our family of five - it was lovely to sit on the balcony outside while the kids played in the backyard. The location was perfect - easy access to everything we wanted, but also very neighborhood-y and quiet. Highly highly recommend!
