Perks for the Parents

This beautiful 3-bedroom beach house on Millionaires’ Row in Nantucket is next to Miacomet Pond and only 15 minutes’ walk from Miacomet Beach. Sitting back from Miacomet Road, this residence is gorgeously styled with high vaulted ceilings and a huge, open plan living/dining/kitchen and outdoor deck area that takes up the entire second floor, providing ample space for family life. There are acres of protected land around Miacomet so guests are able to experience the island's natural beauty, take a hike through sand dunes, play at Siasconset Golf Club, or go for a morning paddleboard on the pond.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love the large grassy yard for sports and family games. It is only 2 minutes’ walk to the freshwater Miacomet Pond with a shallow wading area where you can paddleboard, canoe and fish. It is also just 15 minutes’ walk to Miacomet Beach where there are waves to splash in. The cobblestoned town of Nantucket is a flat bike ride away on the bike path. Kids will also enjoy learning about the island’s history at the Nantucket Whaling Museum, a 15-minute drive away, checking out the island’s 3 lighthouses, or viewing marine life at the small, seasonal Maria Mitchell Association Aquarium.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. There are no stair gates on the main staircase or window guards on the sash windows. There is a gas fire in the living room. Young children should be supervised on the deck and when visiting the nearby Miacomet Pond. The residence is set back from the road and is very peaceful. The Dutch-style doors on the first floor allow parents to control access to the outdoors while still keeping the house open and allowing in the fresh Nantucket air, although the property has air conditioning too.

About the Location

The residence is in Miacomet on the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts and is ideal for families with easy access to the pond and the beach. Guests can get to the island by ferry and by commercial or chartered plane. There are several ferry companies that operate from Hyannis; high speed ferry journey time is approximately 1 hour, 20 minutes. Seasonal commercial flights are available from NYC to Nantucket Memorial Airport or board a private plane from Westchester County Airport, a 45-minute drive from Manhattan.

Style Notes

Luxury beach house. This stunning seaside residence has been completely renovated and newly furnished for summer 2018. From the outside deck there are sweeping views of Miacomet Pond and the ocean. Inside, the high vaulted ceilings and white neutral interior with pops of bright colour – a deep blue and orange in the bright kitchen – give an airy, spacious feel and relaxed beach vibe. We love the Dutch-style front door, the slate floor tiles and painted floorboards, and the traditional and distinctive cedar-shingled exterior.

We are a young family of 4 that absolutely loves Nantucket. We have put our hearts into this property and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Nantucket, Massachusetts

Beaches, ice cream and lobster pots

With so many kid-friendly beaches that fights break out online about which is best, Nantucket is a fantastic place for families. Rent bikes and explore trails all over the island, take the kids fishing for lobster on kid-friendly boat trips, or just relax, build sandcastles and eat ice cream. Among the more left-field ways to entertain hard-to-please kids, you could try ghost hunting, a marine ecology daytrip and an ice cream cruise.
