Perks for the Parents

A luxurious country house hotel nestled between the beach and the New Forest in Hampshire, England with spectacular treehouse apartments and magical children’s activities. The largest room sleeps 4 adults + 8 children. This is a great place for foodies: there are 2 restaurants to choose from (The Kitchen, which offers a children’s menu, and The Dining Room) as well as a traditional afternoon tea offering. You can even take a walk around the kitchen garden to see lots of the local produce used in the restaurants and the hotel offers cookery lessons (for juniors, teens and adults) and private chef experiences. For those looking for a relaxing experience, head to the spa for a treatment, swim in the pool or soak up the heat in the sauna, before ending your day with a delicious seasonal cocktail at the hotel bar - safe in the knowledge that the children are well catered for.

Why Kids Love it

The hotel has its own children’s club, The Beehive, which is ideal for kids aged 5 and over: they can enjoy the hotel books in a comfy reading nook, explore a treasure hunt in the spacious grounds, play some team sports or join in with some crafts. As for family-friendly activities, the hotel offers art classes, archery, foraging, bushcraft, biking, kayaking, croquet and falconry displays. They can even take a walk with the hotel’s ‘teddy bear’ sheep around the orchard or watch the lambing in the spring season. Ask the hotel to prepare an activity hamper ready for your arrival, filled with things to do in and around the hotel, such as kite flying or eye spy. Kids of all ages will love staying in the Treehouses or The Yews too - a truly magical adventure.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 night. Family rooms and suites range from £550 to £1425; family treehouses range from £1550 to £1600; The Yews start from £3500. Additional charges may apply for extra beds or cots in rooms. Check in is 3pm, check out is 12:00pm. Treehouses and The Yews all come with a wood burner and log storage as well as under floor heating. All rooms have a Bluetooth audio system. The kids club is not open all year round but the hotel can help you arrange things to do for children when it is closed - most family activities are charged as an additional fee. The hotel has a spa, sauna, swimming pool, gym, fitness studio, golf course and tennis courts. Dogs aged 1 and over are welcome in the treehouses and The Yews (on request) but not in the main hotel or public areas.

About the Location

The hotel is located on the edge of the New Forest national park in Hampshire, England. The New Forest is known for being a popular family destination in the UK, with picturesque villages and lush green forests all around. Cattle, horses and donkeys roam wild in many areas (including across the roads!) and there are plenty of walking trails, fishing lakes and bike routes to explore. Visit the traditional towns of Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst and Beaulieu for a true New Forest Experience. It’s a short walk to the beach at Highcliffe-on-sea, with lots more sandy beaches and harbor towns within easy reach, and the Isle of Wight is a short ferry ride away from nearby Lymington. Peppa Pig World is half an hour’s drive and the historic site of Stonehenge is 1 hour away. This area is 1.5 hours’ drive from London (or by train from Christchurch station, 10 minutes away).

Style Notes

Country estate. This vast hotel caters for all tastes, offering everything from traditional hotel rooms with period features to huge modern treehouses finished with floor-to-ceiling windows. In the treehouses and The Yews, guests will have a breakfast hamper delivered daily and also have a mini kitchenette with a coffee machine, dishwasher, fridge, sink and microwave. The bathrooms are extremely luxurious, with large free-standing baths and forest views, as well as walk-in showers, flatscreen TVs and 2 sinks. They’re also fitted with modern amenities: living rooms and bedrooms in the treehouse suites both have flatscreen TVs with Sky TV and a DVD player. The Yews is decorated in rich grey and green tones to complement the natural canopy view and blend the interior with the exterior. We love the comfortable padded headboards in the suites, the charming period details in the original historic house, and the beautiful indoor/outdoor style of the hotel’s restaurant, The Kitchen.
