Perks for the Parents

Located in the beautiful back bay of Newport Beach, this family home has a large outdoor entertaining space and spacious living areas. It sleeps 10 + 1. This water-side residence is within walking distance of 17th Street's great restaurants and shopping areas, so there’s plenty of options for eating out if you don’t want to cook. However keen chefs will love grilling on the outdoor BBQ for laid-back family meals. You can bike to the beach, hire kayaks and paddle boards, or even rent a boat and dock it at the house. What’s more, parents with babies will feel very welcome here, with a crib room just off the primary bedroom and a whole host of baby and toddler essentials, including a baby monitor, crib, high chair, changing table and children’s utensils.

Why Kids Love it

There’s never a dull moment here, with boating life, beach life, outdoor activities, biking and hiking all on your doorstep. The hosts have 3 children so they’ll have everything you need for family travel - all the kids’ supplies are in the den off the kitchen as well as in the console in the TV room. The back patio has a built-in sand pit and you can fish straight from the dock! If they ever tire from spending their days on sandy shores, the kids will love a trip to Pretend City Children’s Museum (35 minutes’ drive) or a whale watching trip from Balboa Peninsula. It’s just over 1 hour north of Legoland California too.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 nights. Safety notes: the house is secure and completely baby proofed, with stair gates on the staircase and a gate down to the dock. The primary bedroom and bedroom 2 have access to a large upper patio so young children should be supervised here. There is ample parking available for cars - car rental is recommended. Guests can park cars anywhere on the street. There are many places to rent bikes, currently the hosts only have 1. This is a quiet neighborhood so please respect the neighbors: make sure all outdoor lights are off at the end of the night (the dock light shines directly into the neighbor across the bay) and keep noise to a minimum in the late evening. The house also comes with newly installed air conditioning, a dishwasher, a brand new washer/dryer located in the right garage, TV and WiFi. Sorry - no pets allowed.

About the Location

This residence is located in Newport Beach, California. The house has easy access to the 55, 73 and 405 freeways and it’s just a short drive to John Wayne airport and 45 minutes south of LAX international airport. Uber is available, you can rent a duffy boat for the week from Duffy, and there are plenty of bus stops nearby. Enjoy shopping at Lido Isle, take a stroll or bike ride to Balboa Island and ride the ferry across the bay to the amusements at Balboa Fun Zone. You can walk to coffee, breakfast at famous Haute Cakes or shop Red Balloon for mom and baby. There are plenty of walkable/ridable parks in the neighborhood - bike hire is available on Balboa island. The whole family will love exploring the beach parks all along the coast, taking boat rides or renting kayaks and paddle boards from the National Aquatic Center just a few steps away.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. Upstairs, the primary bedroom has a California kingsize bed; bedroom 2 has a queensize bed; bedroom 3 has a double bed. The fourth bedroom is off the primary room, with a crib. The hosts also have 2 extra single mattresses for additional children. The family bathroom has a bathtub. There is a linen closet upstairs for all linens and a downstairs powder bathroom for beach towels and outdoor towels. Downstairs there is light family kitchen with a dining area, a separate dining room, a cozy living room and another family drawing room. As well as a beautiful courtyard entrance, the garden has a BBQ and outdoor furniture for al fresco dining.

Style Notes

Breezy beach house. This light, bright home features chic neutrals and natural wooden textures to create a contemporary take on the classic beach-house style. Traditional features are blended with modern furniture - think white wooden kitchen cabinets and tropical-paradise shutters juxtaposed with geometric patterned rugs and sophisticated wall panelling. We love the parquet wooden flooring, the 3 gorgeous fireplaces and the floral patterned dining chairs.

We are a family of 5 that live full time in Los Angeles and wanted a fun beach retreat near family in Newport Beach. We were so thrilled to find this property and can't wait to share it with families like ours.

Newport Beach, Orange County

An affluent Orange County community 25 minutes south of Disneyland Resort, Newport Beach is a paradise for boaters and beachcombers. With the largest recreational beach on the west coast, a 10-mile stretch of pristine white sand, it offers ample opportunities for swimming, surfing, and sunbathing. Stroll along one of the largest yacht harbors in the country, take a ferry to Balboa Island or rent a boat and dine dockside at a local seafood restaurant.
