Perks for the Parents

This oceanfront luxury villa set in spacious grounds has an infinity pool, access to clubhouse amenities and plenty for the kids. It sleeps 16 + 2. Guests of the villa are invited to use the Club amenities, which include a golf course, Rancho restaurant and bar, the clubhouse and community pool. Or simply relax at your private infinity pool and watch the mesmerizing surf break on the shore; or walk a few meters to the beach and swim in the ocean. As the sun dips, toast marshmallows together on the woodburning fire pit. There are no lights on the beach or in the bay which makes for great stargazing. On the beach in front of the villa, you might be lucky enough to see turtles laying their eggs in the sand.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will enjoy playing in the pool – there are inflatables and pool toys provided – and running to the beach to feel the sand between their toes and build sandcastles. They can slip and slide on the provided water slider and ride the breakers on boogie boards (there are 6 that come with the villa). With half an acre of grounds, there’s plenty of space for outdoor games. Two adult bicycles and 1 kids’ bike are provided to leisurely explore the area on 2 wheels. Kids will also enjoy spotting the colorful scarlet macaws that frequent the almendro trees (the villa is in a regeneration zone) and the monkeys and iguanas that scamper across the grass. They might even see a Costa Rican deer on the beach.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. Costa Rica tax of 13% will be added to the total cost of the stay and charged separately when a booking is accepted. Rates on the site reflect using the whole house (5 bedrooms). Rates for us of only 4 bedrooms are also available upon request. Safety notes: the pool is ungated and is directly accessed from the house so non-swimmers should be carefully supervised. Life jackets are provided for kids and adults. Internal stairs are ungated. Baby and toddler equipment including 2 travel cribs are provided on request. Pets are allowed but must be approved. Pool maintenance, gardening, maid service and concierge service are 7 days a week. All bedrooms have ceiling fans and air con and 2 bedrooms have safety lock boxes. All bathrooms have complementary Casa Oceano soap, shampoo, conditioner, and hair dryers. Bath and beach towels are provided. A daily private chef is available for an additional fee. Recommended capacity of the villa is 10 to 12 guests or more, depending on the mix of adults and children.

About the Location

The Los Delfines Residence is located in the gated beach community of Los Delfines Golf and Country Club comprised of 134 acres and 6 kms of beachfront. Fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San Jose where you can catch a connecting flight to the local Tambor airport (TMU) about 1km away. A favorite activity is to walk down the beach to the airport and watch arriving and departing planes that excitingly pass just over the heads of adults and kids standing on the beach. To explore further afield, a selection of local tours can be arranged by the villa’s concierge. Choose from horseback riding, half-day fishing tours, snorkelling at Tortuga Island, a Montezuma town and waterfall tour, zip-lining, bio-luminescence tours at night, all-terrain vehicle tours, a Cabo Blanco National Park tour and more.

Accommodation Details

This villa has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms and is on 2 floors. It has half an acre of lawn and gardens plus private beachfront access. Enter via a large foyer with ocean views that opens into the main living area. All 5 bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, AC, ceiling fans and bathroom products: 1 primary kingsize, 1 queensize and 3 bedrooms containing 2 queensize beds in each. There are 2 dining areas that can be used together – 1 is inside and the other is adjacent on the beachfront patio outside. The fully-equipped chef’s kitchen also has ocean views. There is a TV room that could become a kids’ playroom. A spiral staircase in the living room leads to a 2nd floor social area with a fridge and mini-bar and a desk for remote work, leading to an outside deck with tables, chairs and sun umbrellas. In the gardens is an infinity pool and lawn leading down to the beach.

Style Notes

Tropical Accents. This earthy and warm villa is surrounded by lush, tropical plants and fauna. The open floor plan creates an airy space to embrace natural light and ventilation and maximize the connection with the natural beauty outside. Rustic, colonial and contemporary interior décor reflects the diverse cultural heritage of Costa Rica. Honey and terracotta-colored walls, floor-to-ceiling glass doors looking to the ocean, and a skylight in the entry foyer all create a calming and inviting atmosphere. We love the views of the ocean that can be glimpsed at every turn in the main living areas, the primary bedroom with direct access to the shady patio, and the simple joy of walking off the large patio, past the infinity pool and planting your toes in the warm sand, lined with palm trees.

Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 15% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 15% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
