Perks for the Parents

Head to this fun family house between Notting Hill and Maida Vale for a London vacation you won’t forget. It sleeps 8. This is a great spot for big families to spread out and enjoy a vacation in the city. Parents can have their own private floor with the primary ensuite bedroom, and there are 2 living rooms to enjoy some quiet time away from the kids. Parents who appreciate design and architecture will love this unusual house too, with its 4-floor townhouse layout and quirky interior design.

Why Kids Love it

Children of all ages will have a ball in this wild and fun family home. There are 3 kids rooms to choose from, each with their own character, and there are 2 living rooms so they can hang out without parents to watch a film or relax. They’ll be sure to notice the courtyard that sits behind the sliding doors in the kitchen: it comes with a swing chair, a basketball hoop and a built-in slide! There’s a little park and playground at the end of the street and a large green open space on the other side of the Westway to run off some steam.

Things to Know

There is only AC in the primary bedroom. Fans can be placed in all other bedrooms on request. This home is split over 4 floors with no internal elevator and there are stairs up to the main entrance. One dog lives here (not present during guest stays) so those with allergies should be aware. The fireplace is ornamental. The double beds in the children’s rooms are ideally only suitable for 1 person. There is no hanging space in the second bedroom, however there is additional space in the master bedroom.

About the Location

The house is located in the popular neighborhood of Westbourne Park, right between Notting Hill and Maida Vale. Westbourne Grove is a short walk away, offering exclusive and independent boutiques, as well as great restaurants, and you’ll find essential stores and supermarkets in nearby Bayswater. The famous Portobello Road Market is a 10-minute stroll away, and 10 minutes in a taxi will get you to Westfield or High Street Kensington for more retail therapy. It’s around 15 minutes on foot to reach the Queensway entrance to Hyde Park and less than 10 minutes’ walk to the canals of Little Venice, where kids will love spotting the cute houseboats.

Accommodation Details

This property has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 4 floors. On the entrance level, you’ll find a cozy living room and a separate WC. It’s downstairs to the main living areas; the kitchen/dining room and living room. Upstairs is the primary bedroom which boasts a super kingsize bed, air conditioning and ensuite bathroom with a roll top bathtub. On the next floor there are 3 children’s rooms: 2 doubles and 1 twin. This floor also has a family bathroom with a shower-over-bathtub.

Style Notes

Dark and dramatic. The hosts have chosen eclectic and daring interiors to bring this home to life. Downstairs, the main sitting area features dark wood flooring, bold wallpaper and plush sofas. A second living room takes on a pink theme, with fun touches like neon wall art and a wallpapered ceiling. We love the gorgeous ensuite bathroom to the primary bedroom, with its free-standing tub, as well as the cute kids pink room and the amazing all-black kitchen styling.

Notting Hill, London

Movie stars, museums and the market

This pretty, arty and desirable area of West London has characterful streets of Georgian and Victorian houses, the vibrant Portobello Market on a Saturday and easy access to the rest the city. Close to Kensington Garden and Palace, it has Gloucester Road’s blockbuster museums on the doorstep, including the V&A, Natural History Museum and Science Museum. And - tell the kids - it’s also the area that Paddington Bear calls home.
