Why Kids Love it

This house has everything your family needs, from newborns to adults and everyone in between. There's plenty of outdoor space to entertain kids of all ages and lots of areas throughout the house for people to come together (or to find their own space if need be!). The house is always filled with the host’s 4 kids and all their friends, so they are used to accommodating all sorts of families and sleeping preferences. The converted garage is stocked with arcade games, skateboards, scooters, surfboards, boogie boards, kayaks, coolers, beach toys and more - everything your family needs to live the Hawaii lifestyle. Bikes for the whole family are available for use as well.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 nights. Safety notes: the property is right on the ocean. There is a fence and a gate and the hosts have it child-proofed for their own children, but it's important that guests understand that there is easy access to the open ocean from the edge of the property. While the water is usually calm and mild, it is a seawall that is about 20' tall. Parking is available for 3 cars - car rental is not strictly essential but would be useful if you want to explore the rest of the island. Guests have the option to rent the host’s 2021 Yukon GMC - complete with 7 seats and surf racks - available on request. One of the bedrooms is separate and has its own kitchenette and bathroom with shower as well as its own entrance.

About the Location

The property is located just a few minutes walk from the Lanikai and Kailua beaches in Hawaii. It’s only a 10-minute bike ride to Kailua town in this sought-after Lanikai beach neighborhood - there is very little public parking for Lanikai beach and it is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, so being in a spot where you can just walk to the soft sands right from your front door is rare! Getting to the house is easy via Uber, bus, or rental car. There are a few restaurants, cafes, and beach gear rental places within a short walk or bike ride from the home. It’s around half an hour from Honolulu (and the airport).

Accommodation Details

The house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. The primary bedroom and kids bedroom is on the main floor. There's a playroom that connects the main floor to the second story (1 bedroom, 1 bathroom) on the back of the property. The primary bedroom has a kingsize bed and an ensuite bathroom. Both of the other rooms have triple level bunk beds (with the 2 twins on top and a double bed on the bottom) and 1 of the rooms also has a crib, while the other also has a queensize bed. The final bedroom is separate and has its own kitchenette and bathroom with shower as well as its own entrance. The hosts also have a pack'n'play, a double futon in the playroom, 2 double airbeds and 2 single airbeds for additional guests.

Style Notes

Luxury surf shack. Bright, light and filled with the ocean breeze, this is the ultimate Hawaii experience. The bamboo ceiling and surf decor add to the charm and create a laid-back space which suits the beachy surroundings. The property itself is magical, with high ceilings and big windows that look right out onto the crystal blue water to frame those spectacular views. We love the rustic wood dining table, the classic rattan outdoor furniture and the colorful pops of turquoise to complement the sandy hues.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
