Perks for the Parents

This 120-year-old house close to Oosterpark is set over 3 floors and includes a big garden, 3 bedrooms and original architectural details. It sleeps up to 6 + 1. Completely renovated in 2011, it is a mix of modern and classic styles, with high ceilings, original details, and a fireplace. Located in the most upcoming neighborhood of Amsterdam, it is full of space and light and is well set up for a trip with kids from 0-8 years old. The garden with barbecue is a quiet place within the vibrant neighborhood.

Why Kids Love it

The residence is well equipped for babies, toddlers and children up to 8 yrs. The garden is large enough to cycle in (bikes are available to borrow too) and also has a swing and sand box area with lots of toys to play with. It is close to 2 parks (Sarphatipark and Oosterpark) which have large children’s playgrounds; there is also a water splash area in the Oosterpark. Amsterdam Zoo (Artis) is within walking distance (15 minutes). Children’s furniture (cribs, high chair, camp beds and toddler beds) are available.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. All stairs have stair gates or doors and the apartment is safe for children. There is a big garden with a porch and children amenities. Parking is €10 per day but note that with great connections via metro, train and tram, car rental is not necessary. No pets allowed. An additional toddler and/or child’s bed or crib fits in any of the bedrooms.

About the Location

The house is in the residential area of Oosterparkbuurt, close to the Amstel river, city centre and vibrant east Amsterdam neighbourhood. It is a 15-20 minute drive from Schiphol International Airport (€30-50 for a taxi ride) and close to the metro (Wibautstraat station), train (Amsterdam Amstel) and tram stops (Wibautstraat, 50m away). It is a lively area with the city’s major sights within walking distance.

Accommodation Details

The residence is spread over 3 floors, each approximately 60 sqm. The basement has a bedroom with a queensize bed and a separate bathroom and toilet. This floor also has a washing machine and dryer and the entrance to the garden. The first floor has a living room with fireplace, dining room and fully-equipped kitchen with a porch leading to the 70 sqm garden with a swing, sandpit, BBQ and dining table. The upper floor has 3 bedrooms: 1 master bedroom with kingsize bed, 1 with a toddler bed and 1 with a child’s bed (1.7m long), plus a bathroom with separate shower and bath.

Style Notes

Classic Amsterdam. This bright 120-year-old house includes original style details like fireplaces, high ceilings and wooden floors. It was completely renovated in 2011 with new bathrooms and kitchen but retains architectural details. We love the contemporary bathroom with large soaking tub, the large, light-filled living space and the fantastic location for an easy stay in the city.

Lovely home, beds are super comfortable and plenty of fun toys for the kids. Big garden, lots of space for kids to play as well. Had a great time at the Ruyschstraat Residence, would definitely go back again!

Oosterparkbuurt, Amsterdam

Vibrant and multicultural

Approximately 10 minutes from Old Town by car or taxi, Oosterparkbuurt is close to the city’s major tourist attractions but maintains an authentic, residential atmosphere. Take in a concert at the park’s bandstand, meet butterflies, penguins and elephants at Artis Royal Zoo, or search for treasures at the Dappermarkt, named one of the top 10 shopping streets in the world by National Geographic.
