This family home, a mile from the sea in a quiet village just outside Galway, is set up well for a family of up to 2 adults and 2-3 children. It’s a great location for exploring the West Coast of Ireland and Galway city itself. The garden is great for kids and there’s a sunny playroom, blackboard wall for scribbles in the kitchen and plenty of toys, books and games. For parents, there’s a cozy lounge with log burner, well equipped kitchen for cooking up Irish stew and other delights fresh from the market, and there are some lovely design touches to admire and inspire.

What we love

  • This family home has everything you could need: toys, books, games and a safe back garden with space to kick a football
  • Characterful design touches: floating bookshelves, wall maps and museum posters and a Louis Ghost chair in the study
  • The light family kitchen has a blackboard wall for doodles along with a dining area, pine units and a large fridge
  • While you’re cooking dinner from your farmer’s market finds, the kids can play in the comfortable lounge next door or the playroom leading from it
  • There’s a small study area in the guest bedroom, and WiFi throughout
  • The master bedroom is cosy with an ensuite shower room
  • The children's bedroom and playroom is tucked under the eaves, with bunk beds and a spare toddler trolley bed underneath. It's filled with books, games and toys and has an ensuite shower room
  • The family bathroom has a bath with shower over it and rubber ducks

Oranmore, Co. Galway

City, coast and countryside

This quiet village 10 minutes to the east of Galway City is at the crossroads of routes to Dublin, Sligo, Shannon and Limerick and is family friendly and near the coast. A ten minute walk will take you to white sand beaches with views of the Aran Isles, and the village itself has a weekly farmer’s market, playground and local shops. It’s a great blend of city, coast and countryside.
