Perks for the Parents

This charming timber house is in a quiet, very child-friendly area of Oslo and is close to the local bathing area, ski slope and forest with miles of tracks for hiking and cycling. It is 20 minutes by tram, tube or bus to Oslo city center. The children’s room is filled with toys, and is next to the sitting room and dining room, so parents can relax while keeping an eye on the children. The charming garden has a trampoline, play-area and a covered lounge area plus strawberries, raspberries and blueberries to pick in the summer months.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has plenty of toys and books for children under 3, both indoors and in the garden. There are also toys for older girls if needed. The downstairs bedroom is bright and cheerful, and the upstairs bedroom is perfect for a teenage girl. Two high-chairs are available, as well as a crib, baby bath and changing table. There are several playgrounds in short walking distance and a large field for ball games across the quiet street. Footballs, baseball and badminton set provided along with other garden toys. This home is perfect both for babies, toddlers and young teens.

Things to Know

There is a stairgate to the basement where the laundry is. The stairs up to the first floor are quite steep with no stair gate, but the doors to the living/dining area can be closed. The rooms on the second floor have low ceiling so mind your head. There is a private parking space in the driveway if you have a car. Public transport is very good in the nearby area - car hire is useful but not essential. There is a shopping center just 10 minutes away by tram or a 30-minute walk. There is a TV in the sitting room and one on the second floor so kids can watch what they want in a separate room.

About the Location

This family home is in the Grefsen area of Oslo, one of the city’s most popular areas for families, just 5 minutes from the surrounding forest and 30 minutes by bus from the center of the city. The local bathing area is a 10-minute walk away, the slalom slopes can be reached by bus, car (5 minutes) or by foot. The most popular kids museum (The Technical Museum) is a 15-minute walk from the house. Gardermoen Airport can be reached by bus or by car in 40 minutes; Rygge airport is a 1 hour drive, and Torp airport is 1.5 hours by car or bus. The beach is just 30 minutes away by car.

Bright, clean, sophisticated and modern. The residence has a well equipped, spacious kitchen with all necessary appliances. There is a cheerful and fun kids room filled with toys and wheels, and a charming bedroom and TV-area on the second floor. White walls and plenty of windows make it feel light and sunny. We love the stuffed tiger head, the wooden kids toys and the beautiful Scandinavian kitchen.

We are a easy going active family of four (and a dog) that loves to travel, good food, the outdoors, skiing - both cross country and downhill, and spending time with each other, family and friends. Our children (4 and 15) also both love traveling to new places and meeting new people. We love our kid-friendly home & garden and our beautiful city Oslo, and would like to share it with other adventurous families :-)

Oslo, Norway

Viking ships and ski jumps

Likeable Oslo is a blend of challenging modern skyscrapers and historic buildings, set at the head of a fjord with woodlands and parks within the city making it feel anything but built up and crowded. Canoe in Nordmarka forest, cruise the fjord, go cross country skiing on long trails through the woods or marvel at original Viking ships and Munch paintings in the city’s majestic museums. Try the rollercoasters at Tusenfryd Amusement Park or find out what it’s like to be a ski jumper at the Holmenkollen Ski Museum, perched on a hill overlooking the city.
