It is a similar distance from Ceglie Messapica, which along with Ostuni is a classic Puglian towns with bars, shops, ice cream parlors and restaurants. The Adriatic Sea and its sandy beaches are 10 km away; beaches on the opposite coast are 30 km away. The property is 40 minutes from Brindisi airport and 1 hour 15 minutes from Bari airport. Classic Puglia. There is no better place to stay than your own trullo while staying in Puglia. This historic and unique residence has a fully remodelled contemporary interior and has a gorgeous setting surrounded by wildflower meadows and fruit trees. The Morella Residence is a Saracen Trullo, situated directly between two very distinct towns, beautiful baroque Ostuni and gastronomic Ceglie Messapica, and situated between the Ionic and Adriatic seas. Ostuni caters more for the tourists, whereas Ceglie, really off the beaten track, is an authentic, working Puglise town. Both towns offer an array of wonderful restaurants, bars and shops. The Adriatic is approximately 10km from the Morella Residence and the Ionic 30km. Mel and Simon Massey bought The Morella Residence as a restored shell from a local builder, Grazio. It is thought to be over 200 years old and was empty for 30 years before being brought back to life by Grazio and then Mel and Simon. We loved Puglia from the moment we set eyes on it, the amazing architecture, history, culture, charming people, wonderful food and wine. These elements, in a beautiful rustic setting dominated by olive trees and still that innate style Italy is famous for! The fact that tourism is low-key and less commercial is particularly appealing, especially in the peak tourist season. A search for the annual rude postcard for my brother drew a blank, something I was very pleased about! We fell in love with The Morella Residence for its history and location. It is a traditional, original stone Saracen Trullo with two newer lamia (vaulted rooms) attached either side. The simplicity of the materials belies the craftsmanship within the building. The stones have definitely got lots of stories to tell.

We had a great two weeks in the Morella Residence. Lovely villa in an old Trullo which has been really well restored and modernised.. It is really nicely fitted out inside and loads of toys, games, films for the kids. Really nice area as well. Lots of places to visit and excellent restaurants that are all very close. Would definitely recommend for a family break.

Simply AMAZING! We came for some much needed R&R, and this place did not disappoint. The accommodation has a very 'funky' appeal. I loved the leather couches and the art work. I'm pretty fussy when it comes to bathrooms, and they were so clean and clearly well maintained. The preloaded iPod and superior sound system was on pretty much all he time. My children loved the pool and the trampoline, and most definitely the basketball hoop! The owners have really thought 'out of the box' when it comes to hospitality, and the small extras, ie prosecco and essential groceries on arrival really took the edge off after an early flight out of London. I really look forward to another visit in the future. Claire

Just a perfect stay. The Villa is lovely and the set up great. There is loads to do in the area and Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica are within a short drive and have all you need including weekend markets, restaurants, supermarkets, ice cream, etc... The villa is superb and has all you need for a young family. Pool, toys, trampoline, outside dining (with highchair), shaded area and also a hard drive with movies and an Ipod full of tunes that can be played via the indoor and outdoor speakers. Wifi works well and the rooms are all spacious with shutters that make it totally dark (which was a plus for our two young children). Cosimo and Mimmo were impeccable at helping and assisting us with queries and advice on the region and overall we had a lovely time. Besides the villa the whole region of Puglia is excellent for sights, beaches, food and wine and if you like fresh produce and lovely warmhearted people then go. For us five stars all round.

Ostuni, Puglia

The Citta Blanca

This beautiful Baroque town 10km from the Adriatic Coast is surrounded by rural areas and is a hub for the community, with restaurants, bars, markets and pizzerias and stunning white stone churches. Treat the kids to a gelato and explore the meadows of wildflowers, pretty off-the-beaten-track villages and pristine beaches nearby.
