This private apartment is set in a boutique estate in Perugia, overlooking fields and rolling hills, with a beautiful garden and infinity pool. It sleeps 4 + 1. Part of a boutique complex with a shared pool and grounds, it is set on an organic farm with a cooking school and wine tours. All guests are personally welcomed by the owners and will receive personal attention and care during their stay - tailor-made services are on-hand for guests to help with excursions, events and airport transfers. When in season, guests may take advantage of free produce (fruit, tomatoes, greens) from the vegetable garden and the villa has a library of English language books with guides, maps, brochures and tourist information.

Why Kids Love it

This is a great home for the whole family to enjoy. Toys are provided for children of all ages, and there are more toys and a ping-pong table alongside the pool in the estate. The village nearby has weekly family classes, including pottery and daily cookery classes. The hosts can help arrange a babysitter (and have a Montessori-trained babysitter available). The area is child friendly with lots of local families, and there are plenty of lovely villages to visit nearby. Take a day trip to some of the surrounding kid-friendly hot spots: a chocolate factory, an aqua park, horseback riding and donkey riding are all within easy reach.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. Parents with young children should be aware that the infinity saltwater pool is not gated or heated. Bathrooms have showers only - no bathtubs. This apartment can be rented for larger parties with the Tignanello, Desiderio and/or Ornellaia apartments within The Fontegirasole Villa or with any others on the estate. Guests can add various extras to their stay, including a private chef, cooking school, airport transfers, wine tours and food tours. The following items are included in all rates: air conditioning, smart TV, DVD player, iPod speakers, radio, WiFi, towels and pool towels, hair dryer, dishwasher and washing machine. The hosts can help arrange rental car facilities on request - car hire is essential in this rural area. Spa amenities including massage, manicure, pedicure and facials are on offer at the estate or in your villa. What’s more, horseback riding, golf and sailing sessions can be arranged on request.

About the Location

The residence is located near the village of Paciano where there are 3 restaurants, 2 bars, a pharmacy, a doctor, a museum, a tourist information center (open in summer) and a little shop. Paciano is located in Perugia, on the Umbria/Tuscan border, approximately 50 minutes west of Perugia city, and 12km south of Lago Trasimeno. It’s perfect for exploring Tuscany and Umbria, while Siena, Montalcino, Pienza, Orvieto, Assisi, Deruta and Montepulciano are all less than 1 hour away. Ask the hosts about a guided tour of the best of Umbria and Tuscany. The closest international airport is in Perugia, just under an hour away, with Rome’s airports approximately 2 hours’ drive away.

Accommodation Details

Casa Sassicaia has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, located 1 floor up in a restored tobacco house from the 17th century. The main estate was built in 1893 and contains a beautifully restored 2-story stone farmhouse with 2 more separate luxury villas, hosting a total of up to 40 guests. The master bedroom is the converted tobacco drying room with a beautiful sunset view complete with a grand view of the sunflowers. The window in the master bedroom overlooks a spectacular view of Umbria and Tuscany. Both bedrooms have kingsize beds and there is also 1 crib available. There’s also a kitchen, with seating and dining area (seating 6), plus a fireplace. Outside, there is a large porch with a BBQ, outdoor sofa and dining area, plus access to an ecological infinity pool.

Style Notes

Classic Tuscan villa. Set on 40 acres with 3,000 olive trees and a small vineyard of old Sangiovese and Grechetto grapes, there are classic views of rolling green hills, and plenty of relaxing countryside pursuits to enjoy nearby. The interior of the house is designed to reflect the love of wine, with barrel tables and details from the world of wine and vineyards. The space reflects the hosts’ passion for Jazz, with selected pieces from Morocco. Traditional terracotta-tiled floors, wood beamed ceilings and a blend of natural colors create a calming environment for a family vacation. We love the colorful perspex bar stools, the chic contemporary bathrooms and the exposed brickwork details.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
