A truly tropical family home just minutes from the beach in Palisades Village, California with a heated swimming pool, fun Tiki hut and a separate office for working from home. It sleeps 8. For parents who cook, the large eat-in kitchen is ideal for cooking family meals (and there’s a farmers market just a few minutes away). If mealtimes are a chore, you can visit one of the many family-friendly eateries in nearby Palisades Village. Spend your days hiking in the hills or down at Will Rogers State Beach, where you can surf, cycle or simply enjoy the beautiful golden sands of the California coast.

Why Kids Love it

Children of all ages will love the exotic garden! The heated swimming pool has stepped entry and is surrounded by bamboo and lush plants to create an island scene. The outdoor Tiki hut is the perfect place for a snack or to escape the sun’s rays. When the sun goes down, the whole family can toast s’mores on the fire pit. Nearby, Palisades Village has an ice cream parlor and a toy store, while down the coast at Santa Monica (15 minutes’ drive) you’ll find lots of great places to visit with the kids, including Cayton Children’s Museum, the amusement rides on the Pier, and an aquarium.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 nights. Rates range from $1013 to $1450 per night. 14% Occupancy Tax (plus 2.5% card processing fee) will be added to all bookings less than 30 nights and charged separately on acceptance. 50% of the payment is due upon booking. Standard check in: 4pm, check out: 11am. Early check in or late check out may be available on request for an additional fee. Safety notes: the swimming pool is accessible from the back door and there is no fence. There are multiple stairs in the house and no elevator. The hosts have a dog who lives in the home (when guests are not staying) so it may not be suitable for families with allergies. The house has Apple TV but no cable. There is space to park 2 cars on the driveway - car rental is recommended but not essential. Please note that the lead guest (aged 25 or older) must be present at check-in with a matching ID and credit card.

About the Location

This home is close to the eateries and boutiques of Palisades Village, and 2 miles from the beach. It’s 10 minutes’ walk to Palisades Recreation Center and sports fields, or you can head up to Temescal Gateway Park, which has 141 acres of hiking trails, play areas and tree-lined viewpoints - and is the start of miles more parks, waterfalls and reserves in the hills. It’s less than 10 minutes’ drive to Will Rogers State Beach, where there are beach volleyball courts and bike trails that take you up to Malibu or down to Santa Monica and Venice. Also nearby are The Getty Villa and Eames Foundation. Hollywood and the Studios are around 45 minutes' drive; LAX international airport is around 40 minutes away.

Accommodation Details

The residence has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. At the entrance level, there is a green dining room on the right, as well as an open plan living area straight ahead which includes an eat-in kitchen and access to the garden. Behind the living area there’s another cozy living room. This floor also features a family bathroom with a shower-over-bath and separate WC. Upstairs, the house has 3 fun children’s rooms (2 doubles, 1 queen) as well as a primary suite with a kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom (with a jacuzzi and separate shower). The master bedroom closet will not be accessible, but there will be a hanging rail for guests to use. Outside, the heated swimming pool is surrounded by loungers and an outdoor dining Tiki hut, and features a BBQ, fire pit hot tub.

Nautical décor, deep blue hues and wicker furniture inspire thoughts of relaxing days by the beach, while warm wooden textures and botanical print fabrics mirror the lush outdoor scenes. We love the wicket textures and the ceiling fan in the primary suite, the elegant paneled bathrooms and the cozy old stone fireplace.

Cancellation policy
For bookings made more than 7 days before guests arrive, we offer a 24-hour period from the time of booking during which you can cancel and receive a full refund. After the 24-hour period, we refund 50% of the booking value, up to 14 days before guests arrive. If you cancel within 14 days of arrival, the booking is non-refundable. For stays of 60 nights or more, guests can cancel with more than 14 days notice prior to check-in and the first 30 nights are non-refundable. Less than 14 days notice before check-in and the first 60 booked days are non-refundable. Once in stay a guest may cancel at any time with 30 days notice and these 30 days are non-refundable. Available in homes that offer a Flexible Rate* for stays starting before 31st December 2021, on bookings of less than 30 nights. You may cancel or change your stay 2 days prior to check-in with no charges. We take a 10% deposit to confirm the booking and the remainder of the payment 14 days prior to arrival. 2 days or less before arrival the Flexible Rate becomes non-refundable. For example, if a guest is due to check in at any time on Wednesday, cancellation needs to occur prior to midnight on Sunday. We encourage guests to cancel a Flex Rate booking free of charge within the notice period and re-book at a more convenient time rather than amend it. In addition to the host’s policy which is listed here, all cancellations are subject to a Kid & Coe cancellation fee of 10% of the booking total.
