As part of a stunning architect-built complex, this generously-sized 1850 sqft semi-private home has a shared swimming pool and beautiful landscaped grounds, as well as its own private courtyard. Parents with an eye for design will love the Californian style of the house which fits perfectly with the laid-back desert surroundings. Spend your days hiking in the hills or lounging around the pool - this is the perfect place to get away from it all.

Why Kids Love it

This home offers the space of a private house, together with some hotel-style facilities for the family. Kids will love splashing in the shared heated pool, and there is a pool-side shuffle board and putting green within the complex. It’s less than 10 minutes’ drive to The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens where they can learn about ecosystems, conservation and exotic animals. Older kids and teens can hire bikes from El Paseo, and kids of all ages will love Civic Center Park (7 minutes' drive), which has the Palm Desert Aquatic Center, an amphitheater, sports fields, tennis and pickleball courts, picnic areas and more. Palma Village Park (20 minutes' walk) also has a beach volleyball court, basketball court and skate park.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. Maximum number of guests is 6. The courtyard garden comes with a whole host of luxury features, including a warm weather mister, dramatic lighting, pond and gas lit fire pit. Indoors, the home comforts include a wet bar, Sonos whole house audio system, 2 TVs, full-sized laundry machines and dedicated parking, although car rental is not strictly essential as there are bus stops on the nearby Highway 111 to get around the area. The Nest-controlled central AC/Heat Pump system creates a comfortable year-round stay. The den room may be used as an additional bedroom for a child - check with the hosts when booking. Pets are permitted with a fee of $100 per week, or $200 per month.

About the Location

The Sandpiper complex is located in Palm Desert, California. It’s 20 minutes’ drive to Palm Springs airport or just over 2 hours to both LAX and San Diego international airports. The complex is surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens and you can walk directly to hiking and biking trails in the stunning desert hills, right next door. It’s a short walk to nearby amenities, stores, farmers markets, eateries and malls, as well as the El Paseo area for luxury boutiques. Further afield, this area is known for its world-class golf courses, amazing wineries in Temecula and Julian, and the Coachella festival in Palm Springs (half an hour away). The San Diego area (2 hours away) offers more family-friendly attractions, including: San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld and Legoland California.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, all set on 1 floor. It has 2 large bedrooms (1 with a California kingsize bed, 1 with 2 double beds) plus a den/office with beautiful mountain views, all with huge built-in closets. Both bathrooms have a walk-in shower. The living space is open plan, with a large kitchen, dining area and cozy living room in one room. The two main bedrooms and the kitchen all face out into the courtyard area with slider door access, while the great room and the den open out to the pool. Outside, there is a private inner courtyard with a pond and fire pit, dining table for 8, charcoal BBQ and hammock.

Mid-century condo. This historic community is one of the finest mid-century modern sites in the Coachella Valley. Designed by world-renowned architect William Krisel and built in phases between 1958 and 1969, this recently renovated property retains a true Californian style, with classic cacti plants, bright colors and warm wooden textures. Floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors create stunning views of the spectacular scenery, while the polished floors look sleek and stylish. We love the retro artwork on the walls, the luxuriously large double sinks and the warm blue exterior tiles.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
