This bayside residence sleeps up 6-8 and is perched on a hillside over looking the tranquil sea and a private jetty, 15 minutes by boat from Paraty. Waking up to these views, you’ll know you’re somewhere special: hire a boat and explore the island beaches and restaurants in the Bay of Paraty, or snorkel off the jetty and swim beside sea turtles and exotic fish. There are no roads or cars to disturb the views, just forest paths and fishing boats. It’s a clean, modern home and comes with kayaks and snorkelling equipment plus a maid and concierge service. Swim straight from the property, walk 5 minutes to the beach or try out the stand up paddleboard.

What we love

  • This residence is perched up on a wooded hillside overlooking the Bay of Paraty, with stone steps leading to a jetty and the sea
  • There is 1 bedroom with a queensize bed, 2 bedrooms with double beds that can be made up as twin beds as required, and 3 roll out beds for kids if needed
  • The view from the bedrooms - all hardwood floors and relaxed decor - is of the bay and islands
  • There’s an additional single room on the other side of the house, ideal for a nanny or au pair
  • Kids toys and games include CDs, DVDs and books, board games, snorkelling equipment, 2 double kayaks and 1 stand up paddle board
  • In addition to the well-equipped kitchen, the maid can prepare dishes at no extra cost or a professional cook can be hired to come to the house every day from Paraty for an extra fee
  • It’s a great location in the Cairuçu Environmental Protection Area, 15 minutes by boat from Paraty and surrounded by pristine beaches, traditional fishing villages and uninterrupted rainforest
  • Boat-trip from island beach to island beach, eating fish from seaside restaurants and snorkelling
  • Although there's no beach, you can swim direct from the pontoon, there's a beach five minutes away and the hosts offer a stand up paddleboard to borrow

Things to know

  • Private transfers or private plane / helicopter charters from Rio or São Paulo to Paraty can also be arranged on request
  • It’s quite a distance from Rio de Janeiro and São Paolo: 4 hours from Rio, 5 from Sao Paulo (but the last 2 hours from either having stunning views!)
  • The residence is fully staffed with a maid (8am-1pm) and an English-speaking concierge available on your arrival day and by phone throughout your visit.
  • Ask when booking if you need high chairs, travel cots or specific baby gear - the host can often provide
  • It’s not directly on a beach - but you can swim from the private jetty
  • Kids will need supervision on the stone steps and pier. The garden is steep but doors on the terrace can be closed giving a large safe area for very young children
  • On arrival day, a shopping service and a guide is included. Adriana the maid can also prepare dishes at no extra cost, just tell the owners what you like and they will add the ingredients to their shopping list
  • Minimum stay is 3 nights except New Year and Carnival when it's 4 nights
  • The hosts can arrange boat hire - speed boats and converted local fishing boats - so you can explore the bay

Payment policy
Payment is taken as follows: 30% on booking, 70% 10 weeks before check in. If guests are arriving within 10 weeks of booking, payment will be taken in full on booking in 2 payments, of 30% and 70%.

If the payment is not received at 10 weeks before check in, the booking will be cancelled and the deposit will be retained by the host.
Cancellation policy
When a booking has been accepted by the host, if a guest wishes to cancel, no refunds will be given. However, the host consider rescheduling dates. Additionally, the balance payment of any booking is due 10 weeks before the check in date. We therefore strongly advise that appropriate Travel Insurance is taken out before a booking request is submitted to the host.

We are an Anglo-Brazilian family of 5 and used to split our time between the UK and Brazil - schools have put a bit of a dampener on that but we visit at least every year and love spending time in Rio and our Paraty house, and further afield in South America. Our children learn to swim and Stand Up Paddle in front of the house, love to spot iguanas and turtles and if we are lucky dolphins - all from the deck.

We had an amazing time at Casa Cairucu ! This is the most amazing place to disconnect, be close to nature and spend endless hours swimming, kayaking and paddling ! Fantastic location, beautiful house with great layout and v. comfortable beds. Kayaks and SUPs are massive plus. The books and information about the area is very helpful. Kitchen well fitted with enough to do proper cooking. A perfect place to go with kids. Luis and Adriana were super helpful and made hours stay very relaxing.

We had a fantastic time in Brazil, and staying at Casa Cairucu was the perfect start of the vacation. The house is lovely, and so are Adriana and Luis who helped making our stay so enjoyable. Many hours were spent on the dock and the kids loved kayaking and watching dolphins and a turtle swim by.
