Perks for the Parents

A newly-renovated triplex in a historic brownstone at the heart of the Park Slope neighborhood in Brooklyn. It sleeps 8. This family home is beautifully decorated and full of historic charm, yet practical enough for parents traveling with children of all ages. Just 2 blocks from Prospect Park, it’s located in the most family-friendly area of the trendy Brooklyn neighborhood, a few minutes walk from JJ Byrne playground. The neighboring streets include child-friendly activities like play-spaces and activity centers.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has plenty of toys and books for children under 10 and is a great family space with a living room large enough for wheeled toys. There is a newly-renovated family room (including a TV, console, activity area, board games and toys) as well as a storage area with bikes, helmets and scooters. It’s a short walk from local playgrounds and the children’s room is bright and colorful. Kids will love the 3-story bunk beds too - ideal for sharing with siblings, cousins or friends. For family days out, the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Zoo and Prospect Park are all walking distance.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: XX nights. The hosts would ideally like to host a family for the month of August. As is typical for New York / Brooklyn brownstone houses, there are a number of stairs and this is a triplex residence. The apartment has been child-proofed. JFK and LaGuardia airports are around 1 hour away, depending on traffic.

About the Location

The apartment is located on the corner of 4th street and 7th avenue, at the heart of Park Slope in Brooklyn. It’s an easy walk to the F and G trains (4 minutes) and the 1/2/3 trains (8 minutes). This is a lively and child-friendly neighborhood, which is also very stroller friendly. Nearby are streets with restaurants (both child-friendly options and fine dining cuisine), and lots of convenient shops. There is a grocery store 4 blocks away and a farmers market on both Saturdays (by Prospect Park) and Sundays (by JJ Byrne playground).

Accommodation Details

This apartment has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 3 floors. On the first floor you’ll find a large open plan living area which includes a kitchen and breakfast bar, formal dining room and living area along with a mud room. On the second floor, the primary bedroom boasts a queensize bed and has an ensuite bathroom. This floor also has a family room and a powder room. Upstairs on the third level is an additional ensuite queensize bedroom, a third bedroom with a twinsize bed perfect for a nanny or au-pair, and the children’s room with a custom-made 3-level bunk bed. There is an additional bathroom on this floor between the children's room and the single bedroom. Outside, there’s a backyard, patio and BBQ area.

Style Notes

Historic yet homely. This beautifully elegant home is full of period features and character, yet still feels bright, light and contemporary. The hosts have chosen playful primary color accents in the children’ rooms and unique design touches, including marble counters in the sleek kitchen, grand fireplaces in the family and dining rooms, and modern wallpaper in 2 of the bedrooms. We love the grand, striking staircase, the traditional cornice detailing and wood-carved structures, as well as the modern, rich hue of the kitchen cabinetry.
