Perks for the Parents

This beautiful family home in Peckham/Camberwell has modern art to inspire all the family, lashings of divine design and a large back garden. It has an excellent set up for a family stay, with separate play areas for the children and family-sized dining area on the lower ground floor, plus grown-up reception areas on the raised ground floor. The property is on a tree-lined family-friendly street in a lovely part of London.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has plenty of toys and books for children under 6. The family bathroom on the top floor has a shower and bath for kids, and there is a separate large bathroom adjoined to the master bedroom with a soaking tub. There is a play area with table, easel and more. A crib, high chair, baby toys and baby bath can be provided. There is a large garden with kids play area and play house and you’ll find a little park and playground just on the corner of the street.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 days. There is on-street parking but requires a paid-for permit - please consult with the owners if you plan to bring a car. There are a few steps up to the front door but it is easy enough to carry a pram up. The house is set over 4 floors and does not have stair gates; the garden is tiered. Smaller children may need a watchful eye. The residence is very secure with a burglar alarm and neighbours on either side. There are window locks on all the windows.

About the Location

The residence is in Peckham/Camberwell, in Zone 2. It makes a London stay with kids super easy. It is approximately an hour from Gatwick airport and about 1.5 hours drive from Heathrow airport (although you can also get to both easily via train from Peckham). The train station is a 5-10 minute walk from the house with a 9-minute journey into the key central London areas (Victoria / the City / St Pancras). Nearby you will find many playgrounds, plus the wonderful big parks of Brockwell Park, Peckham Rye and Dulwich Park. Peckham is a lovely, vibrant community very popular with young families and artists/designers, it has a prominent restaurant, bar and culture scene but is also peaceful and very friendly.

Accommodation Details

This 4-bedroomed, 4-floor semi-detached classic family home is in a lovely community near central London. The raised ground floor has double open-plan reception rooms. The lower ground floor has a spectacular open plan eat-in kitchen/living space overlooking the garden, with large family dining table and breakfast bar. The first floor has the master bedroom suite with kingsize bed, bathroom and another double bedroom with kingsize bed. The top floor has 2 further bedrooms (currently arranged as children's bedrooms, which can be set up as doubles or twins to sleep 2 in each), plus another bathroom. The lovely garden includes a terrace for dining, plus 2 raised tiers, and is west-facing with a lot of sun during the day. There is a separate children's play house and garden studio at the rear.

Style Notes

Bright, light and sophisticated. This Victorian residence boasts original features, fireplaces and wood-burning stoves on both floors, mixed with bright playful colors and stunning pieces of art. The kids playroom is bright and cheerful, as are the top floor bedrooms. The master bedroom suite is peaceful and sophisticated, with plenty of space to unwind and relax. The house is quite private due to the large gardens of properties on either side so it is not over-looked at front or back. We love the splashes of vibrant color throughout, the tiled fireplace and the beautifully renovated light-filled kitchen.

We are a family of four with two young children who love to travel, have adventures and hang out with our friends and large families. We are living mostly in London during the school week, and in the Kent countryside at weekends and school holidays. We love our Peckham home because it is light, happy, spacious and on a lovely street with fabulous neighbours. The garden is also quite special in the spring and summer with a lovely light and peace. Peckham is a fantastic community, very arty with lots of culture and great places to eat and drink. We are keen travellers and always looking to discover new places.

Peckham, London

Outdoor cinema, village shops and parakeets in the park

Diverse Peckham is a great south London haunt, within easy reach of the city and with its own personality to enjoy. Visit The Bussey Building for outdoor cinema on summer nights, wander village-like Bellenden Road for independent stores, a butcher’s and a bakery, and play in Peckham Rye Park and Common, where the landscaped gardens and playgrounds are home to parakeets (yes, really!)
