Perks for the Parents

This beautifully-designed house in the woods has everything parents and their littles could ask for and is the perfect getaway for families seeking relaxation and immersion in nature. It sleeps 10 + 1. Parents will enjoy the carefully curated Scandi design, calming and minimalist interiors and woodburning stove, while the primary suite gives space to escape and relax. Surrounded by lake, creek and a forest, there’s much natural beauty to enjoy as a family and a firepit for the evenings. For extended family and friends, a guesthouse right next door connected by an outdoor corridor, has a kingsize bed and bathroom.

Why Kids Love it

The property is wonderful for children of all ages with 18 magical acres to explore. Big kids can enjoy the independence of canoeing on the little lake, fishing, exploring the woods, catching and releasing newts, tubing on the creek, swimming in the waterfall, and so much more. Two shallow streams where the water flows in and out of the lake are the perfect spot for little tots to play. The kids’ room with custom-built bunks is fun to sleep all together, a tub for bath time and tons of games and toys including a fooseball table, art supplies, basketball hoop and stair slide. It’s 5 minute’ drive to a local state park with a fun playground, volleyball and swimming lake in the warmer months.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. For safety there are interior doors throughout and at the top and bottom of the staircase. Please be aware that the property has many unfenced natural water features, including the lake and creek, so non-swimmers should be carefully supervised. A double sofabed can sleep an additional 2 guests if required.

About the Location

The residence is in Dingmans Ferry, Pike County, Pennsylvania on the border of New Jersey and close to the Delaware River. From NYC, it’s approx. 1 hour, 45 minutes’ drive. You’ll be just 5 minutes’ drive from a large grocery store and 15-20 minutes to a downtown where you will find restaurants, a brewery, cute cafes and more. It’s walking distance to George W. Childs Park where there are hiking trails and breathtaking waterfalls. Canoe or raft down the Delaware river, ride on horseback from one of the stables nearby, or go seasonal fruit picking at one of the many local farms.

Accommodation Details

The 2,000 sq ft cabin features an open vaulted ceiling living space with seating and large windows that overlook the lake. There’s also a woodburning stove, TV and air hockey table. The living room opens to a kitchen and dining area. Off the living area is a primary kingsize bedroom with ensuite bathroom and French doors to the porch. Upstairs is the kids’ suite with 2 double / full custom-built bunk beds that sleep 4, plus a full bathroom. The guesthouse is next door. It has a living and dining area with a TV and kitchen. Upstairs is the sleeping area with vaulted ceilings and a kingsize bedroom and bathroom with walk-in shower. Downstairs is a queensize sleeper sofa in the living area. Outside are 18 acres of grounds and a stone patio with a firepit and seating overlooking the water.

Style Notes

Rustic beauty. If you go down in the woods today, you’ll find this bright, welcoming and spacious cabin, decorated with calming neutral colors that embrace nature outdoors. Playful touches such as the birds on the kitchen lampshade, an indoor swing in the kids’ room and a floral washbasin, give the house a fun vibe. Heirloom antiques and wood floors bring a warmness to the space. The charming guesthouse is a stone and wood structure that was built in the early 1800s and operated as the original post office in town in the 1840s. We love that you can open the French doors from the large and beautiful primary bedroom to hear the creek outside, and the soaring ceiling of the living room with double-stacked windows with views of nothing but trees.

We are a creative Swedish/American family and love to travel. We are passionate about art, design, and food! I run a small business designing children's goods and home decor. My husband is an artist and collectable toy designer. We have 3 kiddos: 11, 8, and 2 years old. Traveling with kids is rewarding yet challenging at times. I love the idea behind Kid and Coe! Such a wonderful concept that brings ease, fun, and convenience to traveling with kids.
