Perks for the Parents

This beautifully restored villa with a pool combines luxury linens and soft furnishings with historic touches and has sensational views of the countryside from the terrace. It has a fully-equipped kitchen and a family-size dining area both inside and outside the villa on the panoramic terrace. A colorful breakfast table is available near the kitchen. The spacious lounge areas are great for relaxing as a family. Bedrooms are large and romantic. There are plenty of wonderful Umbrian and Tuscan towns to visit nearby - see About The Location below. This is an area where the simple pleasures of country living embrace art, history and architecture, offering wonderful food and wine in nearby towns throughout Lazio and Tuscany.

Why Kids Love it

There’s a pool, plenty of space to run and play and a hammock to swing in. The villa is full of interesting books. A crib, high chair, baby monitor, bed rails and a baby bath can be provided on request. The town of Perugia is a 20-minute drive away and has a chocolate factory; Lake Trasimento makes a great day trip for kids with pedal boats and a beach with sun umbrellas and is 25 minutes away. A babysitter is available at an extra cost.

Things to Know

The minimum stay in high season is 1 week, Saturday-Saturday. Other seasons vary. Guests are welcomed on arrival. There is a private car park with a tree-shaded area. The pool can be heated. Please note that the property is in a rural location, on the top of a hill (600m above sea level) within the country estate of Murlo, a large Umbrian active agricultural farm. The access road to the property is a long and occasionally steep private white gravel road, not suitable for sports cars or any other low-height car. We would recommend the use of a 4-wheel drive car. The pool is not gated but is set away from the house. There are a few stone steps outside the property in the gardens; there are no stair gates inside the house. There is an extra cost for central heating in low season and pool heating based on consumption.

About the Location

The villa is situated within the Murlo Estate, in the very centre of Umbria, 20 minutes north of Perugia. Florence and Rome are within 2 hours’ drive of the estate and Siena, Arezzo, Assisi, Gubbio, Todi and Orvieto are all closeby. The region’s capital city Perugia is just 20 minutes away and offers a wealth of cultural activities that include opera and the famous Umbria Jazz and Eurochocolate festivals. Other spectacular hilltop towns include Cortona and Preggio, the latter with its annual classical music festival, as well as the annual Montone Film Festival which attracts an international audience.

Accommodation Details

This 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom villa has a light-filled living room and dining room with 2 french doors leading directly to the sunny terrace in front of the villa. Two spacious and bright double bedrooms have a bathroom ensuite and there is 1 romantic bedroom with bathroom ensuite and 4-poster bed. The outside space include a stone terrace with countryside views, gardens and a pool, open May-September.

Style Notes

Perched on the very top of Monte Santa Croce, this villa is an example of flawless restoration on an exceptional site.
Its extraordinary location gives 360° views over the Murlo Estate and Umbria. The infinity pool seems to float above the valley. Inside, beautifully preserved features include ceiling beams and stone walls, and fit neatly with modern luxury fittings and soft furnishings. The neutral palette is soothing; the views are outstanding.
