The multiple common spaces also include a parlor, dining area, and living room ideal for morning coffee, or wine and cheese in the evenings. There is plenty of space for kids to play and spread out, including the fenced-in backyard and a kid-friendly play space upstairs. The home is in a very walkable neighborhood with multiple parks and playgrounds, family-friendly restaurants, coffee shops, and other eateries. The residence is 4 blocks to the El offering access to the city’s main attractions including the Liberty Bell and National Constitution Center in minutes.

Why Kids Love it

This spacious home is great for kids - with a fenced back yard with climbing structure and slide, plus toys, books and games in the house and parks and playgrounds nearby, it works for all ages. There are 2 toy chests filled to the brim, plus an extensive library of kids books. Other baby supplies include a bumbo, jumparoo, activity cube, and an activity walker. An additional pack-and-play, a high chair, and a baby bath can be offered on request. It is a short walk to public transit to reach the city’s famous historic sites. There is a public library in the neighborhood, a children's boutique store that hosts puppet shows, sing-alongs, and story time, and multiple parks and playgrounds all within walking distance.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 days. The house is baby/kid friendly with safety features (gates, locks on cabinets, and outlet plugs, as well as a baby monitor that has smartphone connection). A dog and a cat live at the property - the dog will travel with the owner while the cat will stay. She is indoor/outdoor, and does not require any attention (though she loves to be petted)! Car rental is not essential as the residence is in a highly walkable neighborhood; there is parking at the house.

About the Location

The residence is in Fishtown, Philadelphia, just steps from trendy, family friendly restaurants and coffee shops (Frankford Hall, La Colombe, and Johnny Brenda's, newly open Root Restaurant, Heffe Taco, and Igloo, an ice cream parlor). Fishtown is a central suburb, just to the northeast of downtown Philadelphia. It is a 15-minute drive to the airport, and the subway (Girard stop on the Market Frankford El) is 4 blocks away.

Accommodation Details

This 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom home has a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable common spaces, and large outdoor patio complete with a grill, and a play structure. The second floor has a queensize bedroom with adjacent nursery, perfect for parents with infants, plus a full bathroom with tub. The third floor has 2 bedrooms (1 queen, 1 full) and a new bathroom. The third bathroom is on the first floor off the kitchen; there is a queensize pull-out sofa bed in the parlor.

Style Notes

Vintage and modern. The house has vintage touches and a generally eclectic decor with modern touches mixing with older, more sentimental pieces. Big windows allow plenty of natural light. The house has 2 staircases, a front staircase and a butler’s stairwell leading from the open living room and kitchen to the second floor. We love the welcoming lounge with its yellow sofas, the historic feel and the family-friendly feel throughout.

Hi! My husband, Bryan, and I, along with our 3 year old, and 3 month old love to host travelling families at our home since we love to travel as well! Some of our favorite destinations so far have been Hawaii, Montreal, the Pacific NW and Portugal. We enjoy fine wine (and milk for our little) and trying new foods. As a family, we are always up for checking out historical and cultural sites, as well as visiting museums and exploring the outdoors. We hope to host you on your latest adventure!

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Streets paved with history

From the Liberty Bell to the National Constitution Center, if you want to give the kids a lesson in American history, a weekend or longer in Philadelphia will do the job. Beyond the flags and Revolutionary-era dress up, the city is bursting with unique places for families to enjoy, including a zoo where the animals walk above the visitors, and the Please Touch museum, full of interactive exhibits. Don’t miss Reading Terminal Market for artisanal cheeses and local specialties.
