A central duplex apartment in Amsterdam, surrounded by green parks and family-friendly attractions. It sleeps 3 + 2. The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay with young kids, including a small garden - a rarity in the center of the city. The area is quiet yet really close to everything Amsterdam has to offer, including bars, restaurants, museums and shops. Ask the hosts for babysitting recommendations and local child-friendly hangouts.

Why Kids Love it

The host family has 2 children aged 2 and 4, who are happy to share their toys with visiting guests. The bedrooms are located on the basement floor, so they’re dark enough for daytime naps (or lay-ins, if you’re lucky). The street is quiet and safe, close to several playgrounds, botanical gardens and the city’s ARTIS zoo (5 minutes’ walk). Amsterdam is a really child-friendly city, with museums to visit, plenty of parks and lots of fun things to do for kids.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 nights. The apartment is on the ground floor and lower ground floor, in total around 120 m2. Safety notes: there is a staircase that can be safely closed with a stairgate. Bicycles (both adults and kids, electric and regular) can be borrowed from the host family. There is sufficient parking space in the street, but it is paid parking (central Amsterdam rate) and car rental is not strictly essential to explore the city.

About the Location

The apartment is located in the Plantage neighborhood, in the heart of Amsterdam. It’s directly opposite the Hortus botanical gardens and less than 5 minutes’ walk from the Artis tram and bus stops. The nice and cozy restaurants and eateries in this area make this neighborhood even more attractive to families. Popular spots in walking distance include Hortus Botanical Garden, Waterlooplein, Artis Zoo, and Oosterpark. The whole city center of Amsterdam is easily accessible by bike as well. It’s a 20 minute drive from Schipol international airport.

Accommodation Details

This duplex apartment has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. It has a private entrance, with a large open plan kitchen as well as an adjoining sitting room and separate playroom (which has a single sofabed). The primary bedroom has a double bed and the children’s bedroom has a crib and a toddler bed, suitable for kids aged 6 and under. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and bathtub; there is a WC on each floor.

Style Notes

Natural warmth. Bright, spacious and recently renovated, the apartment feels modern and comfortable. It’s also suitably ‘kid-proof': children can play safely in the playroom as well as in the rest of the house without the risk of breaking things. We love the open plan living space, which features a cozy bench behind the dining table that’s ideal for reading, as well as the textile wall hangings and the abundance of green plants throughout.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
