About the Location

This residence is located in Keurboomstrand, South Africa. This is the manor house for The Dunes beach resort and development so there is access to its play area, restaurant and shop, as well as a small farmstead cafe and shop just 2 minutes away by car. It’s 10 minutes’ drive to Plettenberg Bay town, where you’ll find a choice of restaurants, stores, beach activities and a children's water park. The sandy blue flag beach is a quick drive or a 15 minute walk. Keurboomstrand has a renowned farm stall that sells organic local produce and baked goods and the Italian restaurant overlooking the beach, Enricos, is a pure gem. This area is part of South Africa’s Garden Route, so there are plenty of vineyards to visit or wine tours in the wider area. It’s 20 minutes’ drive from Plettenberg Bay airport or 2.5 hours away from Port Elizabeth International airport.

The main house has 3 bedrooms: 1 queensize bed, 1 double bed and a third bedroom with 2 double beds, ideal for children to share. All the bedrooms have Lithuanian linen and organic gauze bedding. Both bathrooms have a bathtub. In the separate cottage, the bedroom has 1 kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower. Outside there is a large grass backyard and patio area for dining al fresco. In the living areas, there’s a large dining table (seating 8), traditional farmhouse kitchen, and 2 cozy seating areas.

Style Notes

Coastal farmhouse. This home blends traditional elements of the original farmhouse with contemporary styling. There’s lots of natural wooden textures, classic floor tiling and comforting dark tones to create a relaxed and welcoming environment. We love the chevron flooring in the cottage bedroom, the wooden paneled ceilings and the subtle coastal stripe blues in the kids bedroom, echoing the sea-side setting.

Monkeys, dolphins, whales and birds

For anyone visiting the Western Cape, Plett is a must-see. Six hours’ drive east of Cape Town on the Garden Route, it has outstanding beaches nearby and spectacular wildlife reserves to delight all the family. Take ocean safaris to see dolphins and whales; walk across the wooden suspension bridge at Birds of Eden, the world’s largest aviary, and see how many birds you can spot, or visit the Elephant Sanctuary for the chance to brush or even ride elephants. Plettenberg Game Reserve offers horseback safaris and Monkeyland is the largest reserve of its type in the world. Animal lovers will be in heaven.
