Perks for the Parents

Set in the family-friendly Raleigh Hills neighborhood of Portland, this light and spacious property has great outdoor space and a true leafy vibe. Stylish and modern, it is geared up for kids of all ages and a perfect choice for a large family. In a great base from which to explore Portland, you could be walking or cycling round the sights, walking up Council Crest for views of the city, or visiting the Columbia River Gorge.

Why Kids Love it

The house is packed with games, toys, movies and craft supplies for kids. There is even a gallery for drawings by visiting children. Kids will love (and fight over) the unique bunk beds and adore the grassy lawn. The house has a pack’n’play, a changing table, stroller, and safety locks on drawers with potentially dangerous items. Whatever the season, kids will love this cool, adventure part of America, with a laid-back and charming city center plus outdoor activities within an easy daytrip.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 day. The property has no stairs. The loft-style bunks are best for kids aged 6+. All potentially dangerous items, such as chemicals, are stored high off the ground and drawers have safety locks. The house has a large driveway, but beyond the driveway is a busy street. The backyard is not completely fenced in, so little ones need to be watched.

About the Location

This house is located in the Raleigh Hills neighborhood and has easy freeway access. Downtown Portland is just 10-15 minutes’ drive away. It’s also just minutes from the Oregon Zoo and the Children's Museum. The nearest beach is 1 hour’s drive from the house, with the mountains 1.5 hours in the other direction. Portland International Airport is 20 miles away.

Accommodation Details

This is a recently renovated, mid-century yet modern home that caters well for travel with young children. With an open plan living space with dining area, family kitchen and 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, it feels spacious throughout. It is set over 1 level as a ranch-style property. The bedrooms comprise 1 with kingsize bed, 1 with queensize bed, a kids bedroom with 2 loft beds and 1 queensize bed, and 1 optional air bed. The living room has 1 single sofa bed. There is also 1 baby crib, and 2 travel cribs. The garden includes space to run and play.

Style Notes

Modern and colorful. This is a bright, modern home with big windows in the living room that allow light to stream in. The kids’ room has bright colorful bedding, while the kitchen includes a small table for little kids to enjoy meals or participate in crafts. We love the celebration of visiting children’s artwork, the spacious living areas for kids and parents to play together, and the leafy setting, close to the city center but surrounded by greenery.

We are a family of 4. Portland has been the only home our children (and mom) have ever known. We love hosting people in this great city because we're excited about everything Portland has to offer.

The house had everything our family needed. It was tastefully decorated and well equipped for young kids (toys, dishes/utensils, high chairs, etc). It's not very easy to walk around the neighborhood due to lack of sidewalks and busy streets, but there are some good restaurants and shops a very short drive away.
