This charming, light and bright 2-bedroom apartment in the heart of Porto is close to many port wine cellars and stunning white sand beaches. The house is at the heart of the Porto's Arts District and near the city's nightlife. Parents will enjoy a stroll down nearby Cândido dos Reis and Galeria de Paris streets for independent shops, cafés, and may enjoy the many art galleries and alternative shops along Miguel Bombarda Street.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has plenty of toys and books for kids under 10, and it is fully equipped for babies and toddlers. A crib, high chair, baby bathtub, stroller and car seats can be provided. There are plenty of family-friendly attractions nearby, including a playground, theme park on the history of Portugal, a puppet museum and an old wooden tram. Livraria Lello bookshop is a must-see for Harry Potter fans. The property is a short drive from a beach.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights in low season, 3 nights in high season. A city tax of €2 per person per night is applicable and payable in cash on arrival; it applies to those over 13 and is due up to a maximum of €14 per person per stay. This house is on the first floor and accessed by internal stairs – a stair gate is provided. Parking in this neighbourhood is free and it's usually easy to find a space. The property has cable TV and WiFi, plus a washer, and babysitting and concierge services. Portuguese-embroidered bed linen and towels are included. Small children will need supervision on the balcony. Pets may be welcome on request - please consult the host.

About the Location

The property is on Rua da Paz in the city center of Porto. The neighborhood has Michelin-starred restaurants, coffee shops, terraces, museums, pharmacies and traditional shops. Most of Porto's key attractions and monuments (Dom Luis Bridge, the Douro River, São Bento Train Station and Cathedral Sé) are under 25 minutes' walk away. It is 5km away from the beach; the golf course, Golf Quinta do Fojo, is 5km away. The airport is a 20-minute drive away, with Lisbon a 3-hour drive away. You can take the kids to SeaLife Porto, the Botanical Garden of Porto, and the capital city of Lisbon, all within a day's journey.

Accommodation Details

The Casa da Paz has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and is set over 1 level. There is a fully-equipped kitchen, a breakfast bar seating 4 and a dining area that seats 6. The living area includes a day bed that converts to bed and a single bed on a trundle. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed, while the second bedroom has a queensize bed and a balcony. A travel crib is available on request. The family bathroom has a shower. There is a grassy, secluded courtyard garden with a barbecue, seating and toys.

Style Notes

Vintage chic. The 100-year-old building was sympathetically renovated in August 2016, keeping many of the original features, such as the wooden floors, elegant windows and high-wall skirting boards. Much of the furniture is rescued pieces from antique markets and adds a vintage feel, contrasted by sleek modern touches. Portuguese designed and handmade furniture such has the black leather sofa and the vintage wooden arm-sofa lend this place a cozy vintage charm, while industrial chairs and modern Portuguese designer illustrations provide contemporary counterpoints.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

We are your hosts at Casa da Paz! Gabriela Molinos was born in Porto and has been working in the 5-star hotel industry over the past 15 years. Passionate about travelling and totally in love with Porto and Portugal, she can combine luxury and vacation rentals like no other. Tiago Molinos was also born in Porto, but grew up in Caminha. He’s our Geek! He’s a specialist in wireless and networking. And a true enthusiast of water sports and motorbikes. Maria is a Biomedical Engineer working in Porto, and she enjoys rescuing beautiful Portuguese antiques. She lives in the small village of Caminha, a magical place where the beach and the countryside are kings, perfect for surfers and kite surfers. We are the family in charge of making your stay in Porto better than you imagined. The Casa da Paz | House of Peace is an ongoing project. We had a lovely time at this place which is well located with a 20min walk downtown and a nice food hall and a grocery store nearby. The house is neatly decorated, and the hosts are very welcoming, including providing great tips and guides for local sightseeing, tours and eating out.
