Perks for the Parents

Right in the historic centre and UNESCO World Heritage site of Porto, this light and airy property is within walking distance of all the city’s major attractions, plus grocers and a bakery. The property is compact and simple, but also bright and fun with a comfortable kingsize bed and cosy snug area above the kitchen. The area of Ribeira is one of the oldest in Porto, and the major transport links are close by.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love exploding from this apartment straight into the heart of this beautiful city. Let them loose down the ancient cobbled streets and narrow passageways, or enthrall them with Harry Potter magic - the Livraria Lello bookshop that inspired J.K Rowling is also a short walk away. Other attractions include the tram museum, botanical gardens and a river ride on the Douro River. Plenty of toys provided.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 night. The residence is on the second floor with an elevator. There is a set of ungated stairs between levels from the lounge to the kitchen that will not suit those with toddlers. There is no outdoor space, and on-street parking is difficult and expensive, so cars should be parked in a nearby parking lot (or visit without one). A crib and high chair are available. There is an elevator, bringing you up from street level, and also a smart TV, plus dishwasher and washing machine. License number: 34090/AL

About the Location

The property is in Ribeira, one of Porto’s oldest neighborhood in the heart of the historic center. Packed with charming shops, wine bars and restaurants, Ribeira is bursting with life, picturesque and busy, but with peaceful spots to be hunted out. Access to transport is easy; the São Bento Train Station is just 5 minutes’ walk away, as too is the metro, while the bus and taxi stops are even closer. There are several long and short stay car parks in the area. The airport is 30 to 40 minutes’ away.

Accommodation Details

This 1-bedroom apartment is set over 2 levels. The bottom floor has a fully-equipped open plan kitchen, with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave/oven, hob, toaster, hand blender, Nespresso machine, kettle and crockery. In the living area on the next floor up, there is a comfortable sofa bed for 1-2 and Smart TV. The bedroom has a kingsize bed and space for a crib. The bathroom has a walk-in shower.

Style Notes

Modern simplicity. This is a relaxing and modern apartment, largely white and fresh with splashes of colour. While it is compact, the space is used really cleverly, with a sofa bed tucked away in a nook of the living space for privacy. The lounge-kitchen area has a wall of vintage mirrors and quirky and colorful hanging pendants. We love the stylish touches and attention to detail, from the bed blankets to the array of pot plants.

We were born and raised in Porto and we are really lucky to live in this charming city. We love travelling anywhere really, meeting people from all over the world, exploring different places and good food. As parents of two children, we also think that travelling and being hosts is a great opportunity to open our kids horizons. Our girl is 15 and our boy 11, both of them love to hang out and play with their friends, that's just their favourite thing! We have a beautiful apartment that our kids love, and all kids that have visited love too, and that's why we think it would be a good match to Kid & Coe.

Porto, Portugal

Boating, garden mazes and custard tarts

Set on the beautiful Douro River in the north of Portugal, Porto is known for being the birthplace of port. There’s plenty to do in this romantic, family-sized city with those under the legal drinking age however: take a boat trip along the river; splash about at the Water Pavilion; hide and seek in the maze at the Botanical Garden or just amble the cobbled streets, picking up custard tarts and cured meats for a picnic in the park. Our local hosts can help you find the best playgrounds as well as the top wine caves and cellars.
