Perks for the Parents

Right in the historic centre and UNESCO World Heritage site of Porto, this light and airy property is within walking distance of all the city’s major attractions, plus grocers and a bakery. The property is compact and simple, but also bright and fun with a comfortable kingsize bed and cosy snug area above the kitchen. The area of Ribeira is one of the oldest in Porto, and the major transport links are close by.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love exploding from this apartment straight into the heart of this beautiful city. Let them loose down the ancient cobbled streets and narrow passageways, or enthrall them with Harry Potter magic - the Livraria Lello bookshop that inspired J.K Rowling is also a short walk away. Other attractions include the tram museum, botanical gardens and a river ride on the Douro River. Plenty of toys and Netflix for downtime are provided.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 night. The residence is on the second floor with an elevator. There is a set of ungated stairs between levels from the lounge to the kitchen that will not suit those with toddlers. There is an elevator, bringing you up from street level, and also a smart TV, plus dishwasher and washing machine. NOTE: There is a Municipal Tourist Tax payable on check in directly to the host. 2€ per overnight stay and per person, up to a maximum total value of 14€ (Seven straight nights per overnight stay/person). Anyone older than 13 years, staying a night in Porto, pays the tax per night, per person for a maximum of seven straight nights per person and per stay. (children up to 12 yo don't pay) Exceptions : a) People travelling for medical treatment, and continue therapy in medical facilities. Family members and/or companions are exempt also. About the Location

The property is in Ribeira, one of Porto’s oldest neighborhood in the heart of the historic center. Packed with charming shops, wine bars and restaurants, Ribeira is bursting with life, picturesque and busy, but with peaceful spots to be hunted out. Access to transport is easy; the São Bento Train Station is just 5 minutes’ walk away, as too is the metro, while the bus and taxi stops are even closer. There are several long and short stay car parks in the area. The airport is 30 to 40 minutes’ away.

The bottom floor has a fully-equipped open plan kitchen, with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave/oven, hob, toaster, hand blender, Nespresso machine, kettle and crockery. In the living area on the next floor up, there is a comfortable sofa bed for 1-2 and Smart TV. The bedroom has a kingsize bed and space for a crib. The bathroom has a walk-in shower.

Style Notes

Modern simplicity. This is a relaxing and modern apartment, bright with splashes of color. While it is compact, the space is used really cleverly, with a sofa bed tucked away in a nook of the living space for privacy. The lounge-kitchen area has a wall of vintage mirrors and quirky and colorful hanging pendants. We love the stylish touches and attention to detail, from the bed blankets to the array of pot plants.

We were born and raised in Porto and we are really lucky to live in this charming city. We love travelling anywhere really, meeting people from all over the world, exploring different places and good food. As parents of two children, we also think that travelling and being hosts has been a great opportunity to open our kids horizons. Both of them are away at univerity now! We have 2 beautiful apartments that our kids love, and all kids that have visited love them too. We're sure you will enjoy them!

Teresa is an incredible host! She was of precious help : don't hesitate to ask her, she'll be quick to ensure and very resourceful. We had a wonderful weekend with our two kids (4 yrs + 1 1/2 yrs old) : they especially enjoyed the little hiding space under the stairs and its box full of toys. It is very well located to walk around the old part of the city. Groceries and restaurants all around. And the place really is equipped with ALL that's needed for a travelling family, way over the average AirBnB.
