Parents will love how flexible this villa is - there’s additional space in the annex if you want to bring grandparents, a nanny, or share the space with friends. The kitchen is connected to the living areas so it’s ideal for preparing family meals to enjoy eating at the big alfresco dining table on the main terrace. When you don’t feel like cooking, the village is just a few minutes away, so you can sample some world-famous French cuisine. Spend your days lounging by the pool or playing pétanque with the kids, and make sure to explore the beautiful centuries-old villages in this stunning historic region.

Why Kids Love it

Parents with little ones will be pleased to know that the villa comes with a high chair, children’s utensils, a pool gate, and 1 travel crib, as well as toys and books for kids of all ages. Older kids and teens will also love it here - there’s a 2-hectare park, a pétanque pitch, trampoline and a ping pong table, not to mention the heated pool to keep them splashing all year round. Budding archeologists will love exploring the nearby medieval sites in this historic town, and there’s also an amazing adventure park (Oxygène), where the kids can try a climbing wall and treetop walkway.

About the Location

Families love the central location of this villa - it’s just a few minutes drive from the village of Vaison la Romaine in southern France. Vaison la Romaine has an architectural museum, cathedral, and historical Roman bridge over the picturesque River Ouvèze, as well as lots of shops and restaurants to visit. There are lots of beautiful villages to explore nearby in this rural region of Provence, as well as popular tourist sites with a half-hour drive. The hosts recommend renting a car from Avignon (around 50 minutes’ drive from the house) where there is a TGV train station for links to Paris. The nearest airport is Marseille (1.5 hours away).

Accommodation Details

The villa has a total of 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 3 floors with a separate annex. The main house offers 2 king bedrooms and 1 queen bedroom each with its own private bathroom / shower room (one has a bathtub) plus 1 bedroom sleeping 2 children in twin beds (that can also be used as a king). An additional TV lounge upstairs has a sofa bed (sleeping 2 more people). The downstairs has a large living room with a fireplace and French windows opening onto the south terrace. The well-equipped kitchen adjoins to the living room and dining room (seating 8). There is also a library, office space, and TV lounge. The apartment annex is across from the main house's terrace and has a king bedroom upstairs with its own private ensuite bathroom, a living room on the ground floor equipped with a sofa (sleeping 2) and a kitchenette. Outside, there are several places to relax and enjoy the sun or the shade, while listening to the song of the cicadas.

Style Notes

Rustic elegance. This typically Provencal villa is very chic yet comfortable, thanks to generous spaces distributed over 3 floors. Each room offers a balance of contemporary and classic décor: think exposed chunky stone walls and rustic wooden ceiling beams contrasted with luxurious modern bathrooms. The thick walls keep the property cool in the hot summer months, as they have done for centuries, and during the winter months it’s kept warm and toasty by the cozy stone fireplaces in the living areas. We love the shabby chic French dresser in the dining room, the grand claw-foot bathtub in the primary bedroom, and the mix of chandeliers and industrial-style lighting.

I am in love with Provence. I love the blue of the sky, the heat in Summer, the cold in Winter..the food, the people.. Al the properties I managed have been carefully chosen and all of them are kids friendly. I know my region by heart and I can help you to plan your holidays. For your kids, many activities, potery, art classes, cooking classes, climb tree experiences, fishing, canoeing etc.. For you, parents: Wine tour, Air tour above Provence and Luberon, cooking class or private chef at home, perfume making etc..
