Perks for the Parents

This stunning architect-designed villa in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, France has a large garden and contemporary interiors, just minutes from a sandy beach. It sleeps 10 + 2. Surrounded by natural parks, lakes and spectacular wildlife, the villa is perfect for nature lovers. It has park views across the house, with light flooding in from floor-to-ceiling windows and patio doors, plus a panoramic terrace where you can watch the stars in the crystal clear skies. The villa will also delight parents with an interest in design or architecture - the open plan layout is simply stunning. Ask the hosts about babysitting and housekeeping services to make your stay even more special.

Why Kids Love it

Children will never tire of the spacious park - there’s plenty of space for ball games outdoors. The open plan layout is great for families and makes it easy for parents to keep an eye on the kids while cooking or packing. They’ll love the ornithological park, where they can spot special and unique wildlife, as well as the nearby white sandy beaches of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer (less than 10 minutes’ drive). This nearby beach resort is perfect for families: there’s a water park on the beach and a carousel. Ask the hosts about some of the other activities in the local area, such as boating, horseback riding, and hiking.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 days in July and August. The property is run as a bed and breakfast venue from September - June, when there is a 2 night minimum and the villa can be booked as a whole house or by booking rooms individually. Tourist tax is not included and should be paid directly to the host on arrival (approximately 4EUR per adult per night, depending on location). The villa is secured with an electric gate, but young kids should be supervised outdoors as there are numerous pounds and open water. The bedroom on the 2nd floor is accessible via a spiral staircases, and there is no stair gate, so this may be more suitable for older kids or teens. Baby equipment can also be provided on request. There is parking available for 5 cars and car rental is strongly recommended. The house comes with air conditioning, a dishwasher, washer/dryer, TV, and WiFi.

About the Location

The villa is nestled in the heart of the Camargue Regional Natural Park, on the edge of the Gines and Consécanière ponds in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, France. It’s close to amenities and exceptional natural sites, such as the Pont de Gau ornithological park or the Vaccarès pond. This area is ideal for spotting the unique species of the Camargue: pink flamingos, harriers, shelducks, or egrets. Arles is 25 minutes by car while the village of Saintes Maries de la Mer, capital of the Camargue, is only a few minutes away. Saintes-Maries-De-La-Mer is also a famous beach resort that offers many shops, restaurants, cafes and a lovely harbor to explore on warm summer nights.

Accommodation Details

The villa has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. The magnificent entrance hall leads you to the 4 double bedrooms on the left, with the 5th bedroom accessed via a unique spiral staircase. The open plan living area features a living room, well-equipped modern kitchen and spacious dining room which opens out onto the panoramic terrace. There are 4 queensize bedrooms (each with a shower room, dressing room and park views), and a primary suite with a kingsize bed, ensuite bathroom, dressing room and access to the long terrace. 1 child can be accommodated in the primary suite, and 1 more can fit in the upstairs bedroom (using a crib or a single sofabed). Outside, there is an organic vegetable garden. The land around the house is large and there are numerous spots to rest and relax as well as several ponds.

Style Notes

Rustic meets modern. Completely renovated and conceptualized by a local architect, the house has been designed to be in harmony with the elements. The owner and the architect wanted to create a resolutely ecological haven of peace, respectful of the fragile nature that the Camargue offers and in keeping with the picturesque surroundings. The materials were chosen as an extension of the external environment, and the contemporary styling adds a touch of luxury to pamper guests. We love the striking kitchen island which flows around the cooking and preparation space, the exposed timber ceiling beams, and the subtle decorative metallic touches.

I am in love with Provence. I love the blue of the sky, the heat in Summer, the cold in Winter..the food, the people.. Al the properties I managed have been carefully chosen and all of them are kids friendly. I know my region by heart and I can help you to plan your holidays. For your kids, many activities, potery, art classes, cooking classes, climb tree experiences, fishing, canoeing etc.. For you, parents: Wine tour, Air tour above Provence and Luberon, cooking class or private chef at home, perfume making etc..
