This Mediterranean-style villa with pool is walking distance from the beach and sleeps up to 8. Surrounded by tropical gardens and with a luxurious high-ceilinged living room, it’s a classic beach villa on a quiet cul de sac. It’s made for seamless indoor-outdoor living, with the living room open to a shaded terrace and the freeform pool beyond it, all surrounded by tropical gardens. The residence has a housekeeper and concierge and guests can also book grocery shopping and catering. Please see Things To Know, below, for some issues around younger travelers. This is a great villa for kicking back and relaxing, Dominican Republic-style, lounging in the garden and pool before heading to the beach.

What we love

  • The large covered terrace overlooking the pool is a great space for outdoor dining, watching the kids play or relaxing with a book
  • The pool: large, freeform and with steps into it
  • Cooling decor with cream walls, ceiling fans and tiled floors
  • The art work is a mix of local artists and vintage black and white local photography
  • The grand living space in the center of the house has high ceilings, a lounge area and a dining area for up to 10 and french windows to the outdoor terrace
  • The master bedroom is upstairs and the 3 other bedrooms - 2 doubles and 1 twin - are downstairs.
  • All bedrooms have an ensuite shower-only bathroom with Frette towels and hooks for wetsuits
  • Large fully-equipped family kitchen and catering if required
  • Soundproof TV room with cherry floors and a large-screen cable TV
  • Walking distance from Gri Gri beaches with seaside pools and a restaurant
  • Walking distance from the nearby shops

Things to know

  • We would recommend car hire for this residence, and covered parking is available

  • Internet access and cable TV
  • A concierge service, housekeeper and gardener are included in the rental, as are linens and towels and beach and pool towels

Sea Horse Ranch has been in existence since 1990. The Puerto Plata airport opened for business in 1985 and it has taken all these 30 years for the area to mature into what it is today. Sea Horse Ranch is conveniently located 10 km from the Puerto Plata airport between the towns of Sosua and Cabarete. Cabarete is only 8 minutes down the coast and is an endless source of entertainment most notably water sports and many waterfront restaurants. We have a vibrant community with 117 built homes, all unique and attractive in their design. 37% of homeowners reside here permanently; it is a thriving community all year round. We have homeowners from around the world as Cabarete in general is an international destination, with the main foreign language being English. We have 40% North Americans, 33% Europeans, and 17% Dominicans from either Santo Domingo or Santiago who have weekend homes here. The last 9% are from other various parts of the globe. It is a wonderful community to live in or vacation in, where many of the potentially challenging aspects about adjusting to life in the Dominican Republic are taken care of for you. This includes full time electricity, excellent security, and a full restaurant on the ocean with home delivery as well as a fully staffed onsite office that does concierge, rentals, property management and accounting. Of course there are additional amenities that are pay per service such as the Tennis, Equestrian Center, and Spa Services. As an additional service, we can administrate and or rent your villa so that you can relax and enjoy your villa without adding more chores to your busy life. Of course lifestyle is one of the major motivators for home ownership in the Dominican Republic. Homeowners and rental guests move about the Ranch, enjoying all that 250 acres has to offer. Kids run free in a way that reminds us of times gone by. Sea Horse Ranch has always set the standards for gated community living in the area, and one of the things that really make us stand out is the large area of undeveloped ocean front land that is accessible to everyone in the community. On the map you can identify it as El Bosque and that is also where our Seaside Pools are located, an amenity that is enjoyed by everyone.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Cable cars and white sand beaches

Swaying palms, stunning beaches, and wind wild enough to lift your kitesurf clean from the waves, this northerly coastal region of the Dominican Republic is a win-win, combining soothing stress-free down-time for grown-ups with awesome adventures for kids. Although well-developed as a tourist destination, there’s still a low-key vibe, with plenty of secluded spots on 67 miles of beach.
