This villa with a pool has a distinct Mexican flavor with bright-painted tiles and wicker furniture, and sleeps 8-10. It’s a characterful place to stay, with a large family kitchen, high-ceilinged living space and covered terrace overlooking the pool, lawn and tropical gardens. Watch the kids jump into the pool from the waterfall as you relax on a lounger in the sun; walk to the beach and try your hand at watersports, or enjoy tropical fruit fresh from the tree. Note that there are some considerations for those with younger travelers - see Things To Know, below.

  • This villa is packed with character, from the Mexican tiles in the kitchen to the garden bursting with flowers and the large living space
  • The pool: freeform and with a mini rock waterfall, all surrounded by lawns and shaded by palm trees and tropical plants

  • There’s a well-equipped family kitchen plus dining area for up to 8; catering and grocery services can also be booked
  • There are four bedrooms, all downstairs: 1 large master suite with Mexican artwork, a private seating area and a balcony for morning coffee; two cozy twin bedrooms and a further double bedroom

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Cable cars and white sand beaches

Swaying palms, stunning beaches, and wind wild enough to lift your kitesurf clean from the waves, this northerly coastal region of the Dominican Republic is a win-win, combining soothing stress-free down-time for grown-ups with awesome adventures for kids. Although well-developed as a tourist destination, there’s still a low-key vibe, with plenty of secluded spots on 67 miles of beach.
