Perks for the Parents

A pretty period house in Richmond, with neighborhood cafes and restaurants at the end of the street and luxurious contemporary interiors. It sleeps 10 + 1. Parents will love the high tech systems in place here, designed to make your stay as comfortable as possible. You’ll find an outdoor awning to give you some shade from the sun or protection from the rain, so you can use the outdoor space all year around, whatever the weather. There’s also high speed cabling through the house for parents who need to work from home, as well as under floor heating in the kitchen for chilly winter mornings. What’s more, for special gatherings or festive occasions, the kitchen has a long breakfast bar and an island at its center, plus a 2-meter dining table to fit the whole family.

Why Kids Love it

Children will love the cinema room here, where they can relax and watch movies after busy days of sightseeing. Next to the kitchen there is a kids' corner with bean bags, a movie projector and endless toys and games, as well as a teenager’s hang-out with games and movies. In summer, kids can run around on the lawn or jump on the trampoline while parents relax and keep watch from a choice of 2 outdoor seating areas. For younger kids, there is a playground within a 10-minute walk, or you can walk along the river in Richmond and feed the ducks along the way. For family days out, visit the spectacular Kew Botanical Gardens (5 minutes’ walk) with its treetop walk and playgrounds, or head to Richmond Park where you can spot wild deer (10 minutes’ drive).

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights most of the year, 7 nights over Christmas, Easter and longer holiday periods. Safety notes: The house is split over 3 floors so there are lots of stairs, but this allows for a bit more privacy. Street parking is available (for an additional fee) but car rental is not essential. Pets may be welcome on request. The hosts have bikes available for guests to borrow during their stay: 2 adult size, 1 teen bike, 2 children's bikes. A single sofabed is available in the study for additional guests and can be moved around as needed.

About the Location

The residence is situated in a sought-after residential street less than 10 minutes’ walk from Richmond town center in South West London. This tranquil riverside village boasts historic pubs, upscale restaurants, independent shops, historic houses and an enormous park. Families will enjoy some of the many things to do, from picnicking in Richmond Park or dining at the beautiful Petersham Nurseries, to visiting the historic Ham House or the world-famous Kew Gardens. Richmond is well connected to Central London via trains, overground and underground lines (the station is a 10-minute walk from the house). Catch the train to Waterloo station in under half an hour, or jump on the subway and reach the Museums in South Kensington in just 25 minutes. Heathrow airport is around half an hour by car or 1 hour by train.

Accommodation Details

The house has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, set over 3 floors. Downstairs there is a front room, a cinema room/playroom and a newly-renovated open plan kitchen/dining room with luxurious fitted units with integrated appliances, which opens up to the south facing garden with full width sliding doors. The open plan living area and kitchen area have zoned areas allowing you to enjoy a meal while the children watch TV in the room next door. This floor also has a WC and ample storage. Upstairs on the first floor, the primary bedroom boasts a kingsize bed, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite bathroom with a bathtub. This floor also has a children’s room with a single bed (plus a single trundle bed), a study/nursery and the family bathroom. On the top floor, there is a bunk bedroom, a double bedroom and a separate shower room.

Style Notes

Old meets new. Modern, bright and characterful, this home blends many of the original period features with contemporary styling and modern furnishings to create a stylish yet sympathetic family home. There are 3 original fireplaces around the house, retaining the historic charm, yet the house has been completely renovated in 2021 to include a stunning sleek kitchen with a minimalist feel. We love the obscured glass crittall-style doors downstairs, which performs a useful zoning function, as well as the beautiful traditional stained glass front door and the contrasting mid-century style living room furniture.

Hello, My name is Natalia. I'm Spanish but have been living in London for the last 20 years. I live in Richmond with my husband and 3 kids and I ran a children's party company called Little Lulubel. We love Richmond, it has plenty of green spaces to go for long walks but also it is just 25min away from the middle of London. Hope you love it here as much as we do!
