Perks for the Parents

This stylish Scandi chalet, nestled in the Vermont woods on a plot of 35 acres, has a private hiking trail and everything you need for little (and big) ones. It sleeps 7 + 1. Parents will enjoy waking up with beautiful views through the large window of the main bedroom. The ensuite bathroom has heated floors and a walk-in shower. Bathroom products are from Ursa Major and bedding is from Parachute. Pick herbs from the garden for dinner and enjoy cooking in the hi-spec kitchen. There are free weights, a yoga mat and a Peleton bike, so pack your clip-ins.

Why Kids Love it

The home is child friendly with plenty of fun outdoor activities including a sand pit, mud kitchen, swing, children’s picnic table and a trampoline. Inside there are toys such as a Brio train set, Magna-Tiles, and great children's books. Guests with babies and toddlers will have use of a Lotus Guave crib, Stokke highchairs, Stokke folding baby bath, and Osprey hiking backpack for adventures. Kids will enjoy stepping outside into nature to discover beautiful flowers and bugs in summer, and sledding down the hill or building a snowman in winter.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. There is a separate cabin next door which is rented separately (for max 2 people) so there may be other guests staying here. This does not impact the guests in the main cabin or affect the sense of privacy. The only thing that's shared is the carport. To rent the additional cabin please ask the host when booking for a custom quote. Pets are allowed. WiFi speed is 380 Mbps. A car port has space for 1 car. There is 1 security camera on the car port tracking who is arriving and leaving – no camera is directed towards the chalet. Towels and bathroom essentials are provided. Safety notes: the backyard is open and not fully fenced. There is a washer-dryer.

About the Location

This chalet is in the woods, outside the village of South Royalton in the White River Valley of central Vermont. You’ll be close to ski resorts (Sugarbush, Saskadena Six, Killington, Stowe), swimming holes and Vermont’s picturesque villages. South Royalton has restaurants, a grocery store, a great burger joint, coffee shop and local brewery. A 25-minute drive will take you to Quechee Gorge, Woodstock and Silver Lake Beach. Montpelier and Killington are around 45 minutes away.

Accommodation Details

This Scandinavian-style chalet has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on 2 floors. Enter through the hallway to the 22ft high, open-plan living space with a woodstove, comfy sofas, a dining area with a table seating 8 and a chef’s kitchen. Upstairs are the bedrooms – the kids’ bedroom has 2 bunkbeds (sleeping 4) and the parent’s room has a kingsize bed, a built-in single / twin with an ensuite bathroom with a rain shower. There is a separate bathroom as well. Outdoors are several seating areas, a Weber grill, lounge chair, hammock, fire pit, outdoor warm rain shower, a herb garden and private land.

Style Notes

Tranquil woodland retreat. In 2019, the hosts bought a dilapidated garage in the woods and, while living and working full-time in Cambridge, MA, turned it into this beautiful haven. The interiors have been carefully curated with thoughtful touches. The kitchen has a Bertazzoni range and soapstone countertops with Hawkins New York plates and cups. In the peaceful living room with floor to double-height views of the trees, there’s a Moroccan rug and ceiling-high bookshelves. We love the bathrooms with views over the woods, heated floors and Duravit and Grohe materials; the projector for cozying up and watching movies; and the view from the private hiking trail (well worth the walk). Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
