Perks for the Parents

This incredible contemporary space sleeps up to 6, and is in a wilderness location on the outskirts of Guerneville, next to the Redwoods State Natural Reserve. The property is just as cool and contemporary as the surroundings are beautiful and breathtaking. There are 3 spacious bedrooms, each with queen-sized beds and modern spa bathrooms. Should you tire of the views, there’s a great gallery for TV and relaxing. It is just a short drive to coffee shops and restaurants.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love the huge redwood, the treehouse and the tether ball for outdoor play. Nearby, it’s possible to visit horses, hike in the forest and explore the Russian River. The house suits older kids best, who can enjoy the tech and hot tub; the stairs are not ideal for younger children. The beach is a 5-minute drive away. The garden is perfect for kids and grown-ups, with a huge deck, hot tub and treehouse.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. There is minimal clutter, so it is relatively safe for kids, but note that there are ungated metal stairs and a hot tub plus a treehouse. Younger children will need supervision, especially those staying with crawling babies or toddlers. No smoking or pets. In the summer, the river and forests are great to explore, while everything is beautiful in the winter. Please note that there is a 12% Sonoma County Occupancy tax that the host will charge separately when a booking is confirmed.

About the Location

The residence is just 5 minutes' drive from the heart of Guerneville in the Russian River area of Sonoma. The historic logging town is 1.5 hours’ drive north of San Francisco and the main airports, Oakland and San Francisco. Downtown, there’s great ice cream (Guerneville Bank Club), great restaurants (Boon, Seaside Metal), and a great coffee shop (Big Bottom Market).

Accommodation Details

This 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom modern house is set over 1 floor with a mezzanine gallery. It has an open plan kitchen/lounge/diner with high ceilings, and a TV room on the mezzanine level above/facing the living room. The 3 bedrooms each have a queensize bed. There is a deck with hot tub, large gardens with a redwood tree, and a treehouse.

Style Notes

Contemporary minimalist. The house has been featured in Dwell architecture magazine. Clad in cedar, it has a natural exterior, and concrete floors and black metal windows inside. The furniture is sleek and modern. Light wooden beams add warmth to the space, while the outdoor area has been kept natural with grassy plants and trees. We love the huge windows which face the old redwood tree and hot tub.

Hi! My name is Shevi and I live with my husband and two kids in San Francisco. I love traveling and design, and I'm hosting tourists for several years now in several modern houses I designed. I love giving people the perfect vacation and design experience! My kids love the house. My daughter Noa is 11. She is a dancer and the tree house was actually her idea. My son Ori is 15 and he is a musician. We travel a lot together. Some of our favorite destinations are: Italy, Japan, Alaska, Costa Rica, Mexico and Tel Aviv (where we originally from).

Russian River, Sonoma

Redwoods, vineyards and river beaches

In northern California, close to Sonoma’s beaches and famed for its wineries, Russian River is a fantastic spot for an active family break. Hike in the forest on the Armstrong Redwoods trail to discover trees over 1,400 years old; play in the river at Johnson’s Beach where the shallow water is perfect for younger kids, or take a trip to the Sonoma Coast state park to go whale watching or play on ocean beaches.

We had a great stay! House with open floor plan is well set up for kids - great location. The kids especially enjoyed the tree house, hot tub and big backyard. Furniture is minimalist but sleek and modern. Drip coffee maker didn't work great (although there's a Nespresso) and might be nice to have a toaster. Would also be great to add some kids books and toys since it's featured on Kid and Co. We had a great time - highly recommend!

My family had a wonderful time here. The house itself was beautiful and located near Armstrong redwood reserve where we visited everyday while we were there. I have 2 toddlers, 2 and 4 years old, and they loved seamless indoor/outdoor door design of the house where they were able to just explore and run around inside and out. The tree house was a big bonus for the kids as well as they had no problem climbing up and down after a few tries. After the kids went to bed, adults were enjoyed some quiet time in the hot tub while watching the beautiful starry sky. I never use “vacation” when I travel with my kids as it always just feels like “trip” but this one truly felt like vacation.

This house is gorgeous. Lots of glass and light, beautiful backyard with a huge redwood tree. Our 3.5 year old enjoyed running inside and outside. Also, Armstrong Redwood reserve is a 5 minute drive away. So we really enjoyed going for short hikes. The tree house as great as it is, is meant for older children. The only things we missed were a microwave to heat up frozen dinners and one of the rooms gets a lot of light early in the morning and there are no window covers. Overall, we had a great experience and we would go back.

All of us really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful Guerneville home! The kids loved both the hot tub and the tree house, and the parents loved the inspiring design and the amazing views out the back. Our host Shevi was very responsive through email and the check in and check out process went very smoothly. Our beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were both clean and beautifully designed. The house is a long walk or a short drive away from some great restaurants, cafes, bars and the Russian River, where we ended up spending a lot of time. We will be recommending this place to all of our friends for sure, it made our first Kid & Coe experience a great success!

The Laughlin Road Residence is a beautiful home that is within walking distance of the Armstrong State Reserve (less than 2 miles and amazing Redwoods) and also within walking distance (less than a mile) of downtown Guerneville. It was a cute little town with great places to eat and shop. Great, great spot and perfect for our family of four. We had a blast.
