Perks for the Parents

This charming country villa, near Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and backed by the foothills of Les Alpilles mountain range, has a heated pool, tennis court and plenty for kids. It sleeps 11 + 1. Parents can relax here – either working up a sweat on the tennis court or cooling off in the pool. It’s a perfect family space for a group of families travelling together, or a large family celebration with plenty of sociable dining options inside and out. For restaurants, cafes and shopping, the village of St Remy is close at hand.

Why Kids Love it

There’s space to roam and explore here in the foothills of the mountains, surrounded by pine forests, wildlife and plants. The house is a starting point for numerous family walks in the protected national park. Active kids will love playing pétanque, badminton and tennis – the hosts can recommend trusted tennis coaches. Inside, there’s a playroom with a pool table, darts board, table football, table tennis, plus board games. The hosts can supply baby equipment if required.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 nights off peak, 7 nights in July and August and Saturday-Saturday rentals during that time. Two hours of cleaning daily are included. Tourist tax is not included and should be paid directly to the host on arrival (approximately 4EUR per adult per night, depending on location). The house has open access to the mountains – if your children are under the age of unsupervised exploration, perhaps this is not the property for you. The pool has an automatic shutter but is ungated. There is access between 2 bedrooms upstairs if parents would like direct communication to the room next door. To get to the house, take the Eurostar or TGV train from London to Avignon (30 minutes away). Alternatively, international flights land at Marseille Provence Airport (approx. 1 hr). Car hire is recommended to make the most of your stay.

About the Location

The house 3 km to the south-east of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and is the last farmhouse situated against the foothills of Les Alpilles, which forms the western extension of the Lubéron mountain range. St-Rémy is an historic small market town of Roman origins south of Avignon and an hour north of Marseilles. Other major towns close by include Arles, Nîmes, Salon, Orange and Aix-en-Provence. There are many small and attractive villages in the area including the historic fortress town of Les Baux. The beach is about an hour’s drive, either to St.Marie-de-la-Mer in the Camargue, or to Cassis.

Style Notes

Provençal country charm. This beautiful bucolic villa effortlessly blends old world charm with modern comfort. You’ll find Provencal fabrics, regional paintings, antique furniture and colorful artwork inspired by the region. There's lots of space here with a lovely tennis court where you can knock a ball around, all the while flanked by views of pine forests and mountains. We love the outdoor terraces for sunbathing, the gorgeous landscaped pool area surrounded by trees, plants, herb and flowers, and the lovely shaded terrace with comfortable seating - perfect for curling up with a book.

I am in love with Provence. I love the blue of the sky, the heat in Summer, the cold in Winter..the food, the people.. Al the properties I managed have been carefully chosen and all of them are kids friendly. I know my region by heart and I can help you to plan your holidays. For your kids, many activities, potery, art classes, cooking classes, climb tree experiences, fishing, canoeing etc.. For you, parents: Wine tour, Air tour above Provence and Luberon, cooking class or private chef at home, perfume making etc..

Saint-Remy-de-Provence, Provence

Artists, sunshine and good living

Twelve miles south of Avignon, this beautiful Provençal village embodies all that is great about the area; art, good living and sunshine. Vincent Van Gogh lived here for a time; it’s also the birthplace of Nostradamus. Explore the Roman ruins nearby after browsing chocolate shops and playing in rivers beside flower-filled meadows.

Beautiful property - comfortable, well appointed and a great location. Our family, especially the grandchildren, loved the heated pool, tennis court and game room. Amelie was a perfect host - friendly, accommodating and helpful. All in all, everything we were hoping for, for our family vacation in Provence.
