Perks for the Parents

This scenic property in the heart of Provence, France features a stunning heated pool, landscaped gardens and summer kitchen for long summer evenings. It sleeps 10 + 2 in the main house and another 2 people in an apartment that can also be rented. This rural villa (sleeping 10) offers space for a large family, as well as a separate apartment (sleeping 2) which is ideal for a nanny or au pair. Spend your days lounging by the pool, reading by the fireplace, or snoozing under the shade of the pergola - this is the perfect place to relax and retreat. Hosts can also provide a chef for luxurious at-home dining, or a babysitter if you want to explore the scenic villages and traditional cuisine of Provence.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has plenty of toys for children under 10 and is a great space for families, with a TV and DVD player for cooler days indoors. There’s a spacious garden with a petanque pitch and a heated secure pool, plus a summer kitchen with a pizza oven so the whole family can dine together outdoors. It’s a short ride on bicycles from the local playgrounds and the area is safe and quiet. Further afield, the beaches of the south coast are less than one hour away, and there’s a nearby Oupa Splash water park (40 minutes’ drive) if they need to burn off some energy. A high chair, baby toys, changing table, and a baby bath can be provided on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 or 7 nights, depending on the season. Please note the pool is not available until Easter 2023. Tourist tax is not included and should be paid directly to the host on arrival (approximately 4EUR per adult per night, depending on location). Safety notes: the house is safe and secure, with an automatic gate and fenced garden; the pool (15 x 6m) has an automatic shutter that covers it entirely so it’s safe for children to play outdoors. Please be aware of the large central dressed-stone stairway - the steps are high with no safety rail, so children should be supervised. There is car parking for 5 cars in front of the property - car hire is strongly recommended to explore the area, although Uber and private taxis are also available. Housekeeping is available on request. The property comes with a dishwasher, washer/dryer and WiFi.

About the Location

The house is located in Saint Rémy de Provence in southern France. It’s 5 minutes’ drive to the village center, or 20 minutes by bike. It’s a 1 hour drive from Marseille airport and 20 minutes from Avignon TGV train station. The nearest big city is Avignon and the nearest beach on the south coast is Les Saintes Marie de la Mer (55 minutes away). Saint Rémy de Provence is a beautiful, historical town with art museums, picturesque cathedrals and quaint cobbled streets to explore. The whole family will enjoy a trip to Zoo Barben wild animal park (just under an hour away), as well as the tourist attractions and theme parks in Marseille (1.5 hours away).

Style Notes

Traditional Provençal villa. This 18th century villa is bright, light, modern and sophisticated. The property has been decorated with soft color accents (each bedroom has its own style) and dressed with Provençal fabrics and traditional furniture as a nod to the styles of the area. We love the traditional terracotta floor tiles, the striking exposed stone staircase and the unique arched window with a view to the pretty gardens outside.

I am in love with Provence. I love the blue of the sky, the heat in Summer, the cold in Winter..the food, the people.. Al the properties I managed have been carefully chosen and all of them are kids friendly. I know my region by heart and I can help you to plan your holidays. For your kids, many activities, potery, art classes, cooking classes, climb tree experiences, fishing, canoeing etc.. For you, parents: Wine tour, Air tour above Provence and Luberon, cooking class or private chef at home, perfume making etc..

Artists, sunshine and good living

Twelve miles south of Avignon, this beautiful Provençal village embodies all that is great about the area; art, good living and sunshine. Vincent Van Gogh lived here for a time; it’s also the birthplace of Nostradamus. Explore the Roman ruins nearby after browsing chocolate shops and playing in rivers beside flower-filled meadows.

We had a fabulous time at the Mas Etoiles residence! It was spacious, clean and perfect for a family. The property was also beautiful and the pool was wonderful to have on the hot afternoons. Would highly recommend visiting!
