Perks for the Parents

This country villa near Saint-Rémy-de-Provence has plenty of old-world charm, space to play indoor and out, and a large heated pool. It sleeps up to 8 + 1. The house is spacious and stylish with an outdoor kitchen next to the pool so that parents can cook and keep an eye on the kids at the same time. There is much to explore in the local area with plenty of opportunities to create family memories such as walking in the pine forests, visiting art galleries, eating ice cream, cycling through lavender fields or swimming and snorkeling in the warm Mediterranean sea about an hour away in the Camargue area.

Why Kids Love it

Although there aren’t toys and books here, there is a trampoline to bounce on in the garden. Plus, plenty of space to do hide and seek, play ball games or badminton on the lawn, splash in the pool, or explore the grounds. The house is a short walk to local playgrounds and there’s a skating rink, tennis court and horse-riding nearby. For child-friendly restaurants, St Remy and Avignon are a short drive away.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights in high season, change-over day Saturday; 5 nights in mid-season. Tourist tax is not included and should be paid directly to the host on arrival (approximately 4EUR per adult per night, depending on location). Baby equipment such as a travel crib, high chair and changing table can be provided on request at a rate of 20€/item. Two hours of cleaning daily are included. There is a shallow pond and fountain on the grounds, making this house less suitable for toddlers needing close supervision. The property has an automatic gate and is fenced. The pool is heated and has an automatic cover but is ungated so children will need supervision. The house is pet-friendly. To get to the house, take the Eurostar or TGV train from London to Avignon (30 minutes away). Alternatively, international flights land at Marseille Provence Airport (approx. 1 hour). Car hire is recommended to make the most of your stay.

About the Location

The villa is in the countryside, 2 km outside the village of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and near ‘le plateau de la Crau’ – a beautiful sightseeing spot where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Alpilles mountains. St-Rémy is an historic small market town of Roman origins south of Avignon and an hour north of Marseilles. Other lovely towns close by include Arles, Nîmes, Salon, Orange and Aix-en-Provence. There are many small and attractive villages in the area including Egalyiéres, and the historic fortress town of Les Baux. The beach is about an hour’s drive, either to St.Marie-de-la-Mer in the Camargue, or to Cassis.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 4 air-conditioned bedrooms. They include 2 kingsize with ensuite bathrooms, 1 queensize and 1 double that share a bathroom with a bath tub and walk-in shower. There is a full kitchen with a breakfast bar and table seating up to 6, a living room and library with doors to a sun terrace and the garden and a glass conservatory with a dining table seating up to 10 and sofas. Outside are large grounds with trampoline, fish pond, heated pool and sun loungers, and an outdoor covered terrace with a dining table, BBQ and bar.

Style Notes

Country charm. This large rustic villa is both elegant and comfortable, effortlessly blending old world charm with modern comfort. You’ll find antique furniture and chandeliers, bright color pops and soft couches. The glass atrium is an architectural gem with a stone floor and windows that flank 3 sides and look out over the garden – it would make a great spot for a sunny breakfast or dinner party. We love the large heated pool and covered terrace for a shady respite from the sun, the spacious grounds, and the glorious views of the mountains.

I am in love with Provence. I love the blue of the sky, the heat in Summer, the cold in Winter..the food, the people.. Al the properties I managed have been carefully chosen and all of them are kids friendly. I know my region by heart and I can help you to plan your holidays. For your kids, many activities, potery, art classes, cooking classes, climb tree experiences, fishing, canoeing etc.. For you, parents: Wine tour, Air tour above Provence and Luberon, cooking class or private chef at home, perfume making etc..

Artists, sunshine and good living

Twelve miles south of Avignon, this beautiful Provençal village embodies all that is great about the area; art, good living and sunshine. Vincent Van Gogh lived here for a time; it’s also the birthplace of Nostradamus. Explore the Roman ruins nearby after browsing chocolate shops and playing in rivers beside flower-filled meadows.

The property is incredible and everyone (adults and kids alike) had a spectacular time. Amelie was a wonderful host assisting us with a chef to cook for us for a birthday celebration while there as well as recommendations for local restaurants, boulangeries, shopping, and surrounding sites to see. It could not have been a more perfect site for our stay!

Our stay was nothing short of perfect. The villa was extraordinary - enough room for 5 adults and 2 kids to spread out and have their own space, but come together in the lovely common areas. Amélie was lovely and incredibly responsive and accommodating. There was champagne and other local goodies for us upon arrival, and she even went out of her way to get children's books for our girls. The groundskeeper was unbelievably helpful and devoted to keeping the garden and pool areas pristine and beautiful. It was paradise!
