This architect-designed villa enjoys a prime, hilltop position surrounded by pretty rolling countryside and lush Mediterranean planting that provides both beauty, and privacy. Huge picture windows and patios showcase the views whether inside or out, and the chic pool, hot tub and fire pit area are perfectly placed for gathering together while soaking in the scenery. The garden is fully fenced so the kids can run and play safely, and there are plenty of chill-out spots for adults to relax in whilst the kids play. For those who can tear themselves away, there’s plenty to explore nearby from villages and vineyards to culinary delights and historic cities, with Pisa and Florence just over 1 hour’s drive away.

Why Kids Love it

Kids have plenty of outdoor space to explore with lawned areas for games and picnics, and a large outdoor pool for splash about fun. There’s a BBQ for fun alfresco dinners, and a fire pit for gathering together and toasting s'mores beneath the stars. Inside areas are air conditioned with plenty of space to retreat to on warmer days, and a TV and WiFi for screening movies and playing games. There are plenty of attractions a short drive away including local markets for aspiring cooks who enjoy sampling local produce, and hiking trails, horse trekking and coastal activities for the outdoorsy. A crib and a highchair can be provided on request, and the hosts can help arrange for private tours and cooking lessons suitable for all the family.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. Please note that the outside pool is unfenced, as is the hot tub, so young kids should be supervised whilst outside. The pool can be heated on request at a surcharge of 700 euros per week. The villa has air conditioning in all rooms, heating on request and WiFi throughout. A welcome drink, and a kitchen starter pack are provided including espresso pods, oil, vinegar, spices and detergents. There is no bathtub at the property. A cleaning service is included as part of the rental on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, with a towel change mid-week. Pool towels are provided. The villa has car parking on site and car hire is recommended to explore the area fully. Please note that a security deposit of €1000 will be taken at the beginning of the stay, and refunded subject to a post check out inspection. There is a daily tourist tax of €2.50 per person, not included in the rental price. Pets are welcome; if bringing a pet there is an additional end of rental cleaning charge of €100 per pet. Check in is between 4 and 8 pm; check out by 10 am.

About the Location

The villa overlooks the pretty medieval town of Volterra in the Tuscan countryside, 1 hour south west of Florence. The closest bar, restaurants and supermarkets are 10km away, with Etruscan and Roman relics and museums in the center of Volterra, 14 km away. The Tuscan hill towns of San Gimignano (36 minutes drive) and Siena (55 minutes) make ideal day trips with foodie rated restaurants, wine bars and medieval architecture to explore. Sporty families might enjoy hitting local hiking, biking and horse trekking trails - or heading to the coast for watersports and swimming; the pretty pine clad coastal stretch of Marina di Cecina is just a 45 minute drive. The closest international airport is at Pisa, 57 minutes drive while Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci Airport is 1 hour 10 minutes. There is also a railway station at nearby Volterra.

Accommodation Details

The villa has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms set over 2 floors. It is made up of 3 connected parts which offer both space and privacy, with the original part of the house in the middle, home to the central living areas. They include a living room with sofas, a fireplace and a satellite TV; a fully equipped kitchen complete with a built-in dishwasher, an American style fridge/freezer, a wine fridge, an ice maker, a juicer and a coffee machine; and a dining room with a table seating 6. All open directly onto outdoor patios via glass doors. There are 2 double bedrooms on this floor, both with double beds and ensuite shower rooms, and a work desk in 1. The primary bedroom is up on the first floor and comes with a double bed, a living area with a satellite TV and an ensuite bathroom with a shower. There is a home gym on this floor too, and a separate shower room for convenience. Outside space includes a fully fenced back garden with lawns and several terraces including an outdoor living area with sofas, an alfresco dining terrace with a table seating 6, and a BBQ, and a fire-pit patio with seating. There is a 7 x 14 m infinity pool with a sundeck and sun loungers, an outdoor shower and a wellness area with a jacuzzi. Garden games include table tennis and table football.
