Santa Barbara, California

Wine country, palm-fringed beaches and family fun

On the central Californian coast, Santa Barbara brings together wine country, sandy beaches and family attractions to create a fantastic family vacation destination. From the palm-fringed beaches to the shark-touching tank at the Museum of Natural History Sea Center, the beach cafés and lush parks, not to mention the small but perfectly formed zoo, Santa Barbara caters for families exceptionally well. Active kids will love sea kayaking, hiking trails in state parks and bike rides along Cabrillo Boulevard. It’s what beach cruisers were made for.

This was hands down the best home we have ever rented. It was simply magical. The house itself is gorgeous, spacious, and beautifully decorated. There is a lovely, large kitchen and plenty of space for a family to spread out. And the backyard is simply stunning. Lemon trees, bocce court, perfect pool, outdoor kitchen, and lovely landscaping throughout. There are literally hummingbirds flying around everywhere - it's like being in a piece of heaven. The location is fabulous and a close drive or walk to stores, restaurants, hikes and beaches. And Paul and Rodda are incredibly responsive, welcoming, helpful, and friendly. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

We had a wonderful stay at The Canon Drive Residence and would happily recommend it to anyone. The house is beautiful, lots of space and in a great location. We loved the quiet neighbourhood and proximity to both hiking trails and lovely shops and restaurants; great to be within walking distance of both. But our favourite thing about the house was the backyard: wonderful eating area, boules court and fabulous pool - great fun for our two boys.

My family, which consists of a three year old, five year old girl and, nanny had the best time at Canon drive! So we were a total of 5 people for two weeks and I could have stayed all summer! All bedrooms are upstairs and spread out, but close enough for it to feel safe with with kids. It's what a Spanish Colonial should feel like with all the wonderful updates they've made. We loved picking lemons and limes off the trees and swimming in the pool. The backyard is a dream for kids on days when you don't want to leave the house. But the neighborhood is convenient to everything Santa Barbara has to offer. There is a wonderful neighborhood park (Stevens Park) right down the street along with wonderful restaurants with in walking distance. Our family had a memorable time here and look forward to coming back!

I can't even begin to describe what an amazing experience we had staying at the Canon Drive residence! The home itself is stunning and the backyard and pool area can't be beat. The house is equipped with absolutely everything one would need for kids AND adults. There are tons of kids toys both inside and outside, a comfortable family room, phenomenal chef's kitchen and ample bedrooms and bathrooms for all! The location of the house is fabulous- walking distance to parks, grocery stores, coffee, shops, hiking trails and more. Rodda was a wonderful host- very communicative and went above and beyond to make our stay fantastic. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have stayed at this beautiful oasis and can't wait to return!
